Reed said to be looking for a move if he isn't going to get a chance at Southampton. Don't blame him....at twenty-three, it is time for a decent move. Can't hang around like a kid for ever...good luck to him. http://readsouthampton.com/2018/02/25/reed-open-summer-move-away-southampton/
I can see one of Targett or Mcqueen leaving too, oh and Gallagher. Those four seem to have been on the fringes of the first team for ages without ever really getting a run.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/16046520.Saints_will_be__safe_and_sound_/ JWP thinks we will be fine, so that's okay then. As it happens I agree with him...not enough wins, but the draws show we are hard to beat. Not suggesting that we don't need a bit of serious rethinking in the summer, but I think we will do enough. The Mail had a strange fact....since 2012 we have started a match in the relegation zone eight times and have never lost one of them. Nothing like flames licking your ankles to make you jump.
But due to Newcastle beating Man U we were in the relegation zone at the start of the Liverpool game?
My only thought here is that I hope we don’t let him go too soon. If the worst happens, he could be just right for us in a league down. If we stay up, then fair enough.
Yeah, decision needs to be made in the summer. If we are keeping our other options hen that's davis, Hoj, Lemina and Romeu ahead of him. I would wish him the best in any move. If we do down then he will be fighting for a starting spot here at least which is as good as he's got now.
Sunny 16 deg in Marbella at the moment. If they do get bad weather in their 'sunshine' trip, it will just be another example that the gods have turned their backs on us.
I guess its a question of whether you would rather train in 17 degrees rain or 0 degrees sunshine. Does our training ground have under soil heating to stop it freezing?
The first team squad trained at St Marys just before the Burnley game, I am wondering whether the sudden spate of injuries was put down to the Staplewood surface conditions?

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/02/2...about-saints-loanee-matt-targett-following-a/ Fulham fans very happy with Matt Targett and think he has been crucial to their recent upturn in form. Pleased for him and think this experience is just what he needed, but I hope he still has a future here. Was this done to help him regain match form or have Saints really shown him the door?
Just listened to the Saints Podcast with Jeremy Wilson. Very interesting...talking about how he got into journalism, his support for Saints and his article about football and Alzheimer's. He said in all his years in journalism his most combative time was with Strachan and Lowe. Strachan would phone him up to shout at him....Rupert was the same, but with less effing and blinding. Thought Strachan was good and got the most out of an ordinary team....with several players having their best couple of years under his management. Wilson points out (as many of us have done) that there is more opportunity for yearly improvement starting in Division 1 than there is once you get to the top half of the EPL....where six or so teams make it hard to keep improving. And this will mean that some seasons will turn out poorer....emphasised that mistakes may be made, but these seasons will happen to any team. As for recruitment....he thinks that there will also be seasons you hit the jackpot and seasons that may not be so good. He points out that though it may not seem so because of the money going into wages, but Saints do reinvest the money from the sales. However, at the moment we aren't getting loans from the owners as happened at the beginning of the Leihberr era. He did say at the beginning how fans have forgotten the bad times (I suspect some are too young to know them)....in his view the last few years have been the best and most consistent for Saints....other than McMenemy's time in the 80s.
Two Saints games on Sky in April: away to Arsenal 8 pm on Monday 9th and at home to Chelsea at 12.30 on Saturday 14th.
