Diego like PJ seems gutted that Firmino is innocent of the charge.:emoticon-0105-wink:
I am gutted that so many people are willing to call a young man a liar when they have no idea of the statements made by 12 witnesses, the fact it has taken 7 weeks to resolve leads me to wonder if at least some of them said they heard something like the word suggested but couldn't honestly say it was that word. If all 12 had said they heard nothing at all then this would have been resolved weeks ago.
I would hate to think Firmino said what he was accused of and would also hate to think Holgate made it up out of the blue, unlike many on here though I can see how this might have happened and accept that both players are "innocent" for want of a better word.

That is what it has to do with it.

Ah **** off Diego, it's been done to death, but anyway here goes, lip readers agreed Firmino spoke Portuguese, language experts said the derogatory term for black people in that language does not begin with "n", it's been confirmed he said "Are you mad? You son of a bitch."

Taking all that into account you still think Firmino was guilty.<laugh>

Does Holgate understand Portuguese?

If he doesn't, why did he accuse bobby of being racist when he wouldn't know what was being said to him?

At no point did he say I think he may have been racist towards me but can't be sure. He accused him of it.
Does Firmino only use Portuguese words?

I am gutted that the FA have left it open to interpretation to be honest. Wanted it to be a misunderstanding all along and resolved. The FA statement doesn’t help.
I agree, the FA statement is why it's still being discussed.
As I said yesterday, all they needed to say was: "We are satisfied that Holgate made the accusation in good faith - we are equally satisfied that Firmino is not guilty of the accusation and can conclude that there was a misunderstanding between the two".
The FA are so inept at this sort of thing.
However, they are a body whose existence is dedicated to developing and enforcing the rules of the game, so should we really expect any better from them? Racism is a social issue that goes far beyond their remit, and imo matters such as these should be referred to an outside body with more experience and sensitivity.

Then the FA could get on with the important work of slapping a retrospective punishment on Holgate for the initial shove. <whistle>

I actually feel in the incident Holgate probably knows he made a ridiculous challenge on Firmino. Crowd were angered, Firmino got up in a rage and comes storming towards him and probably thought he was gonna get some kind of abuse (physical or verbally) and anticipated the worse. Add to that Firmino shouting in Portuguese then its not unlikely that he thought he might have heard what he thinks he heard.

However the referee was the closest to the incident than anyone else on the pitch and him alone not hearing anything, let alone a number of players and officials not hearing anything either. It is a shambles it took this long and bit disgraceful that there was no further action taken on Holgate for his challenge.

The whole he already got booked malarky is crap. The ref had booked him yes, but he also didn't hear Firmino say anything, but that didn't stop a ridiculous man hunt against Firmino.

So the consensus is that Holgate was mistaken and would never have lied, but that there's still a possibility that Firmino said what he was accused of.

<laugh>

Ffs, let's believe what we want to and move on, Everton are still **** and we're still sitting pretty in the league and the CL..:emoticon-0100-smile

Unless my memory is failing (quite possible), neither of them were booked.

I assumed he meant he had already been booked so didn't want to produce a 2nd yellow and have to send him off.

I can't remember if he had already been booked though, so my memory is ****ed as well lol.

It's a bit sad that, reading further afield, some Everton fans must have wanted their player to have been racially abused or why be up in arms that Firmino has been cleared. What does that tell you?

If he thinks he may have misheard then he can accept the overwhelming evidence against him supporting that and accept he made a mistake. Since he apparently doesn't accept he made a mistake then that suggests he lied and is sticking with his lie.
You’ve got form for blaming the alleged or real victim due solely to your club bias, your view isn’t worth a ****e tbh.
