Eubank certainly had the power to unsettle Groves. The odd occaissions he had him on the back foot, he stepped off the gas. If he'd have kept on the front foot - he'd have had him in trouble. I enjoyed it, was spoilt by the early clash of heads and that gash. Still not at all convinced by Groves chin - definite wobbles at times in that bout.

Groves had the better ring craft and managed to keep moving. Previous Eubank Jr opponents have stood toe to toe which is his forte.

Only because Eubank didn't continue to press him when he had him under pressure. If he had he may well have crumpled.

Groves did little to impress.

I think also the lack of any clear strategy (or at least a Plan B) perhaps evidenced by him not having an identifiable trainer in his team also did not help.

I agree that Groves did not dazzle and I think if he ends up facing Callum Smith in the final that he will struggle.

I took someone's stream advice on this thread. I've lost my internet access on my laptop since.

Eubank looked poor. Literally no deviation from a plan that wasn't working. He had no footwork, just plodded forward.

He'd be 2x as good with a trainer who actually knows how to train him tactically.

He's too small for supermiddleweight.

I don't think he's got anything else. He's just not a good boxer, it's about not been hit as well as hitting.
Agree about not a super.
His build he could go down to light middle.

Thing Is though boxing is about the hype. He's probably made more money than the others cos of his hype.

You don't go 12 rounds with a world champion (albeit a poor one) if you haven't got ability. You don't go 12 rounds with a world champion and cause him problems (which he did) if you haven't got ability.

I've seen quite a few Eubank Jr fights and I can't believe they are all saying he isn't a puncher. He looks ferocious to me, there's some real snap in his punches and his hand speed is phenomenal.
Jnr has no power whatsoever. What he has in abundance is volume of punches. He smothers his opponents and the ref has to step in and call a TKO. Very rarely does he put an opponent on the deck and even rarer does he stay there. He was made to look like a rank amateur by groves (who will get bashed up by smith). Too many people believed the hype surrounding Eubank, when in reality he hasn’t improved at all since billy joe schooled him.

Have you not checked his record? As that suggests otherwise.

Total fights 28
Wins 26
Wins by KO 20
Losses 2

Hi defeat v Saunders was more to do with inactivity in the first half of the fight. Not 'schooled' as you put it. As the fight was decided by split decision.

Groves was denied two legitimate knock downs in the fight so the scores should have been wider.

Eubank's resume is barely B level. He's fought 2 world class boxers and lost, and beaten 1 extremely passed it former champion in Abraham. He's the definition of hype.

Slips. Not knock downs.
