And why exactly should we care what the bloody media, other club chairman or fans of other clubs think about us? Who has ever done us any favours? (only one I can ever remember is Barca giving us Ronnie Eklund, but that was because Bally was mates with Cryuff). Football isn't a popularity contest, its about being best on the pitch. In the world of football, you show any weakness and other clubs/players/agents will exploit it, not praise you for being a gentleman etc etc.
I was just about to post a similar thing. I don't care if anyone likes us anymore, i'm not fussed by the media's perception or by a jumped up manager's comments. Football is won out on the pitch not in a popularity contest as CBK rightfully says.
If we get promoted this year then finish in the top 6 in the premier league, I wouldn't give a toss if anyone liked us. A lot of people including myself don't like Man Utd for example - but they are a bloody good team!
At least Cortese has the class not to slag people off in public...he just takes down what they say in his retribution book. And one day when they are not ready....
At the end of the day football is a business and whilst he is obviously a football fan, Cortese knows that like in any other business its only the results that count. If you look at most other really successful business men in any line of work, they are usually hard nosed and ruthless. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. More power to Cortese, I say !
Well said! Best post on here that sums up my feelings on it.I love how Cortese obviously sticks up for the club, prime example was not being bullied by arsenal when they made a small bid for chamberlain. He may be a bit of a hard nosed businessman but i love him.

Everytime some breaking news appears on the BBC website, this website crashes and we get duplicate posts!
And they have a management team that does their own thing in their own way and don't care what anyone else thinks. I for one would be very happy for Saints to emulate Man Utd in more ways than one.
Hmm yes. We must be using it a fair bit. In contrast, I posted something on the Leyton Orient site yesterday evening, supporting their cause over the Olympic Stadium, and I checked back this afternoon, to find I had been the last poster on the forum. It could be us..!
F**K Warnock I'm glad we upset him, he's one of the biggest assholes in football. If we were that keen on Gorkks, then I have no doubt we would have made more of an effort to sign him. No doubt Nicola and Nigel will have something up there sleeves. Still 6 days to go, though must admit I would be a little disappointed if we didn't bring a centre back and a centre forward before then. Mind you there is still the loan market.
This coming from the manager that bought Kieron 'sidelined' Dyer! That screams panic buy. We are lucky that our chairman is in the position to take his time and not rush signing's. QPR wont be getting Punceon after those comments me thinks! Out and Warnock is a prick that has the grace of an elephant
fact of the matter is i dont care how NC goes about his business, one way or the other he will get us the best deal. in a company do major investments get decided and wrapped up in a day? no, you consider all best options and consider feasability of all routes. i only say that as he has stated in the past about running us as a business, problem in this one is you have fans (stakeholders) who are so emotionally charged we want to see what we want when we want it. in NC I trust. que sara sara.
Think maybe my comments were seen as a dig at "the don" when they really weren't, his work is massively appreciated and he is of the shrewdest like I said and I disagree when said by a poster than he is a football fan, I don't think any of us actually know that I think he is a business man full stop! I agree whole heartedly that we dont need to be liked or anything but as much as you do not kiss anyone's ass like some managers and chairman do I think Cortese is almost the other way and thrives on the fact he is strongly disliked by other clubs, media etc and that is why when doing deals in the two transfer windows and compulsory meetings with players agents that this may put a slightly negative spin on things, people cannot underestimate the power of the media and players agents, you only have to look at the last few major departures in our club to see this!
Don't think he thrives on it, but he probably wants to put a stake in the ground to make it clear that he/we are not a person/club to be mucked around with anymore. Don't forget, Cortese at takeover, had access to the files for previous transfers and other financial happenings and was possibly appalled at how the club was either shafted from people outside, or even worse, those inside it. I could be wrong, but I get the feeling that if you deal with Cortese in a professional and courteous manner, he recipricates accordingly. He probably just doesn't suffer fools gladly and he's also smart enough to realise that agents may bitch and moan about you, but they will still work with you as its in their interests and those of their clients. An agent is exactly that, a middleman. However, many of them have an over-inflated sense of their self importance.
