You are absolutely right of course. But like everything in a league we are not judged in a vacuum. Everything we do is relative to others. We may go on a good run but if Chelsea and others go on better ones we are stuffed. Hence the speculation and the "dreaming" on this thread. Isn't the purpose of this thread to keep an eye on others?

Anyway shows how much real work some of us are doing in order to spend time on here speculating and projecting :) :bandit:
Firstly I have week off as half term lol.

Also if we do our job it doesn't matter what others do.

Yes you will get results like utd losing to Newcastle, but that's the same as us losing to the bottom 2 teams lol.

Do our job is all that is required here on in.

Yes we want results to go our way and this is a forum for discussing, but we beat city then lost to Swansea lol.

Who knows.

I'm enjoying the ride.

West Brom have sacked chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman as owner Guochuan Lai responded to the club's poor run of form.

Makes a change to sacking the manager doesn't it?

Chelsea and united both have to play 4 games against the rest of the top 6 while us, spurs and arsenal only have 2 games.

Those games united and chelsea have against the others means teams around us will drop points at some point.

Looking after my daughters you cockwomble lol.

You never heard of people booking half term off at work :bandit:

Then again being in your sixties :bandit: and your daughters are grown up don't suppose you have lol.

I have heard but usually women in my organisation . :bandit:

(PS: can I get banned for being sexist?)

Hope so :bandit:

I think you should lol.

Me and my ex don't live together anymore sadly. So I have girls weekends and holidays when I can get time off work.

Could be good or bad depending on their form. One way of looking at it is both Chelsea and Man U have control of their destiny. They win their 4 matches they should land in top 4. But if they draw or lose these matches they could be in trouble. Arsenal should be out of the equation apart from causing trouble to others.

At the risk of irrittating Saint (I said I would start a brawl ;) ), Will we need at least 78 points and will we get them? Just hope we won't need that total and rival teams drop points. For me the worry is Spurs and Chelsea who may both go on a winning run as they recover their form.

The sensible thing is to take one match at a time. But where is the fun in being sensible? :)
I'm not irritated (well, maybe a little bit:)) - I just think it's crazy. But I like crazy people, it's why I'm here.
Discussing other clubs is fine, what's mad is trying to predict all the permutations of what can happen between 3, 4 or 5 other clubs over 11 games.
Who honestly would have predicted us losing to Swansea yet beating City, Utd losing to Newkie, and Chavs 2 bad results in a row?
There are still many games between the top 6 to go, and points will inevitably be dropped by some teams there, never mind the unexpected slip-ups against lower placed teams.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd and Spurs all still have to play City, so there should be plenty of points slipping away there, but who knows?
Predicting individual results may be a bit of fun, but it's a mug's game in reality.

Too many mathematicians on this board. <laugh>
Whatever happened to the "take each game as it comes" attitude?
That's all we can do - trying to predict the permutations of other teams' results to see how many points we need is frankly crazy.

Yep, everyone is desperately trying to calculate how many points are needed to just about scrape 4th place. I'm just looking at what we need for 2nd and then 4th is someone else's problem.

I think a lot of lfc fans would have predicted us to beat city then lose to Swansea. That’s what we’ve done for the past god knows how long <laugh>

How many times exactly?
Having beaten City then some might have predicted us to lose the next game because they're miserable negative batards who are fearful every time we play and are constantly looking over their shoulder at whoever is behind us.

How many would have bet something substantial on that pair of results before the City game?
