That’s a massive shame for him, but as Lewis says is totally the right decision. I hope he can now make a good life for himself and his very important family now he doesn’t play.
Good luck to him and his family. That was always going to be the outcome in my mind. I even found myself in agreement with Chazz on this
The right decision I feel. If he had played the first time he got a completely normal knock or an elbow to the head and it would’ve been absolute panic. That’s no way to go about your career. **** me are we unlucky with our big money signings.
How sad for the young man, who was good at his profession. Wish him all the best for his and his familys future.
The right decision for me with a young family, simply was not worth the risk. 100% Best of health and luck for the future Ryan. Hopefully you stay involved in the game maybe coaching kids.
Wonder if there are plans afoot for a benefit vs Spurs? I doubt he’ll hardly be skint, but I feel it would be a fitting move.
Great shame. There was a very talented player in there. I note the announcement has poetically come just before a Chelsea v Hull City game at Stamford Bridge where the incident originally occured just over a year ago. Hopefully the two teams can arrange some kind of show of respect. Best of luck for the future Ryan.
He must be gutted. But obviously life is more important that football. Good luck Ryan. Kudos for trying to come back.
Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham Ryan Mason: "'I’m retiring from the game with my head held high having done everything in my power over these past 13 months to have given myself every opportunity to return to the pitch." Gutted for him and though this is not really a surprise, it's still sad that it's now been confirmed.
Nice guy, good footballer.....made the right decision for himself and family. Good luck for the future.
