Told ya told ya told ya - JWM was saying he was a money grabbing so and so - I said no deal was gonna happen until the end of the transfer window! Right again ha ha.
Hullborn, just because you made a stupid panic buy that you couldnt afford doesnt mean we are making the same mistake. It may turn out to be a poor signing but he is arguably one of this leagues best performers. Lancs - your modesty knows no bounds!. I didnt feel confident myself but its good to see him back.
I've got to say I am very surprised by this. Maybe we were the only club to offer two years, or first team football, but he has proven he is willing to come back and drive us forward. Hopefully he can capture the form he had last season for us which isn't a certainty but hopefully can help us in keeping possession and create a few more chances. As for the Hull fans, you got your wish. He has gone and hopefully for us he can prove what a mistake it was to not play him. 10th March at the KC will be an interesting day
any news on how much he is on? he obviously wont be on 45k which shows he really wanted to come here i think. competition from premier league clubs but he joins us for a big drop in wages and signs for a team who have conceded 12 goals in two games, what a man!
I do agree Lancs with this statement... To a point. Kennedy (35) Bowyer (34) Bullard (32) and Andrews (30 and not our player) are not here for the long term and Leadbitter at 25 offers more in terms of years if nothing else. I know that being absolute toot is not made up for by being younger but until we have some more respectable aged midfielders I dont think we can be shipping them away with too much eagerness. That said if Pompey are interested I'd not be bothered if he left I just worry about the fact that Kennedy and Bullard are both considered injury prone and Bowyer may spend the odd week out with suspensions.
Is nobody bothered by his sacking by Hull for breach of club conduct? This season's Joey Barton, perhaps
It is well documented that Hull were desperate to get him off the wage bill and a small indescretion may well have been the opportunity they needed. Bullard was here last season and was a well behaved boy so IMO he is worth the risk.
I think Jewell is signing oldees because the younger options cost more and he wants to scout them for a while before making a commitment of paying a decent transfer fee. Whereas, the majority of players he's signed so far have been on frees and have proven experience so can do a job immediately.
I am genuinely pleased for you guys. He salvaged a little pride for Town last season and hopefully can do it again
Good signing - I would have loved to see Bullard return for us this season but I think the management were never going to let it happen. Don't know what went on in Slovenia - lots of rumours - but anyway I fear for him sticking a few past us in March unless our form improves. He's been a bit like Marmite for us but you'll know from last season when he's fit and motivated he's simply the best midfielder in the championship. Good luck Jimmy with the tractor boys - hope it works out!
Without the slightest taste of soure grapes, I really hope that the Bullard signing works out for you. It very obviously didn't at City. We took a punt on making a marquee signing of a player with a history of serious injury problems. It didn't work out with injuries. He started less than 20 matches in the almost 100 that we played while he was with us. There were always rumours of off field activities and now there is the severance of contract. The money we sank in to signing him and paying his contract was a major factor in the club almost going out existance last year. He cost us close to £5000 for each minute he spent on the pitch if he was on the wages that have been bandied around. On his day - and there were precious few of those - he was a huge talent. He obviously enjoyed his time at Ipswich last year and responded. I hope for your (& his) sakes he can be so again. Except when you come up to the KC.
He has signed for you because he wants a playing job. He has been sacked and had his contract wripped up. Hope things go well for ITFC (seriously).
Does it not worry you that had he really wanted to join you it would have happened earlier in the summer, had he not had his contract terminated he wouldn't have looked twice at you, instead sitting on his arse taking 45k a week rather than playing football. Its all money with Jimmy, give him a month or so and you'll see how much he's bothered about Ipswich. As for prem teams interested, QPR have opened talks with Joey Barton and never said they wanted JB, same with Wolves, dont think they were ever in for him just Sky picking a name out of the hat. P.S we thought Fulham fans were all tossers when we signed him, they turned out to be right, two sets of fans cant be wrong this could backfire big time, just keep him fit until March so Nicky Barmby can give him a proper goodbye from Hull ;-)
I can't believe that Hull would be so childish as to leave the best and highest paid player on the books to just sit and collect his agreed wage week in week out without giving him the opportunity to earn said wage, he was well within his rights to demand that Hull uphold the contract that both parties agreed. He had options premier league and otherwise and he chose to come here so i think that says alot i'm sure he could of got a higher weekly wage but maybe no as long a contract which leads me to believe he wants to play football. Good Good Signing Cheers Hull.
