He was capable of telling him that. Even Hull councillors can string half a dozen words together. Well, some of them anyway. Whether he did say that is the question.
This morning whilst doing chores I listened to the full Burnsey / Ehab interview. I thought Burnsey did a good good with the questions which covered the major points. It is clear now to everyone that there will not be further investment at City from the family. Ironic that he kept going on about re engaging with the fans then cancelled the meeting. Could not be drawn on the price they wanted. Looks extremely likely they will get the money back plus interest. No buyers at present. Gave Burnsey a bad time about not being positive. Cringeworthy stuff alright !
Thing is, what Ehab thought were positives included away fans rating a trip to the KC. Anyone else would want their own club's fans rating a visit to their own stadium highly instead of staying away in droves.
My answer is he did say that. Why wouldn't he? A respected local businessman and Labour donor offers to build a sports village and develop the area around the KCOM and the Council's contribution would be transferring the freehold. The freehold which is practically worthless to anyone but the owners of Hull City because of the lease given to the SMC. I don't remember many people congratulating Geraghty for turning down the Allams at the time. I think he came in for loads of abuse on here and on CI. This is what OLM: "He (Assem Allam) offered to build a £120m sports village, if the council were willing to contribute £30m in the form of that value in the stadium, with him raising the other £90m. Removing an eyesore, creating hundreds of jobs, with clauses to prevent the stadium being redeveloped into anything other than a sports stadium. Start writing, the man (Geraghty)'s a buffoon. " 27 September 2011
It's true because OLM posted it? Thank **** for that, I thought you were being serious when I first read it. Comedy gold
why wouldn't away fans vote for the KC - they spent all the money meant for our fans to travel away on away fans visiting the KC
It is. I think its hilarious. I say Brady said yes to giving the Allams the stadium in return for a sports village and some people say I'm talking bollocks. Yet at the time OLM and many others thought the Council should have said yes. I don't think its a huge leap that one of those who said yes was Brady. However Assem Allam said Brady changed his mind and withdrew the offer because he needed Geraghty's vote to remain leader.
I pointed that out in an e-mail to Sports Talk last night, as well as giving examples of what a load of bollocks Ehaw's examples of how cheap we were but it didn't get read out. Probably because I didn't start it with " Great interview, Burnsey. "
The council are able to give away city assets if, in return, they get a major privately funded development, it’s happening now. Trying to use that hypothetical as proof of what Brady said to Allam is just increasing your bollocks count.
One thing that came out of his in depth interview was that he has no idea what is the heart and soul of a football club is. He might make his money back and that is his best case scenario. Other than that no idea what makes a supporter tick and really he just doesn’t care about anything but the investment.
Almost as funny as you saying Assem Allam is a liar when he said Brady changed his mind in exchange for Geraghty's vote.
