I thought he was gone last night but I am glad he has not. Without a replacement it would have been madness. I am sure it took all this Forest business to even provoke the offer of a one year extension. I am really interested if that offer is still on the table now the deadline day has gone. The reality ? This is not a place where high earners will be welcome anymore and we can expect to lose the last of them on the last day of the season what ever League we play in next season.

I very much doubt that Bowen would have wanted to stay as opposed to moving to Everton for example (I think that was the brief rumour)
Dawson may sulk because he wanted to go to Forest

I did say I don’t think either of them will though
I disagree about Bowen. It's not the right time. He seems a level headed kid with good family behind him.
When he moves he wants to be in a position to go straight into the team. I don't think he would right now. Especially with Everton signing Walcott.

And that's exactly what the Allams have said.
They aren't going to put their money in as a plaything for our enjoyment. We need a budget for a team with a small stadium and a small crowd. We we won't fill it until we're back in the pl with new owners.
But those owners are either going to put us into debt to do it or a local with more money than sense will spend his fortune.

I don’t think it’s the right time for him, but I still think he would have moved

Could be wrong though

In no way related to what Ehab might or might not do.

I was thinking earlier whilst I was work... dangerous yes... But if you were in charge would you have spent this season or tried to see it out with as little outlay as possible?

Record signing still on (most likely) £30/40k per week out all year. Second record signing and star striker on similar wage injured for the majority of the season straight away. Star defender injured for most the season. On top of all the other niggles we came down with (Keane, can't remember who else)

That's a lot of money and talent tied up and not available. I think I'd have saved the cash for a sunny day.

Our best paid player is apparently on £25k a week and he’s not currently injured.

Forgive if I'm being naive but a 'proper captain' wouldn't jump ship when we're in deep relegation trouble.

I thought Dawson was made of sterner stuff. Although in his defence we don't know what sort of crap he's had to put up with behind the scenes.
Maybe the bastards have just worn him down.
Maybe he's seen Davies, Roberston, Elmo, Tymon, Maguire all dissappear and he's been left fighting fires with a bunch of kids on loan, and thought, do you know what, **** this for a game of soldiers......

Exactly, who wouldn’t?

Bowen could get a bad injury and miss out on his payday, so if allowed I think he would have left. Ultimately though it's all up to Ehab, if he could he would probably have let Dawson, Bowen and maybe one or two others go. I think Dawson and Bowen are the kind of players who will give their all still, though messing around with Dawson's head wasn't very clever.

When you have a business which pays you 100million for failing and coming last in a league of 20 and then pays you 50 or 60 million? over the next two years I would try and stay there.

Even if you had to spend all that money to do it? (and then not be certain)

Wouldn't you just be tempted to pocket what you already had.....
