As Fosse has said below, given what we bought him for we can’t really lose out. If he helped us to Europa league qualification and/or the FA cup it’ll be worth it. Hell the money for each place up in the league is crazy enough. I know what youre saying and I’ve been playing devils advocate (although I clearly see it differently to you). As I say, I think a lot of this is the owners taking it stand against big clubs thinking they can cherry pick who they want and at the end of the day it’s their money as owners. I think if, along with Southampton royally ****ing Liverpool over, it’s worth it if it means it puts larger clubs (or in Man City’s case a small club run on oil money) in their place and puts a stop to player power. The players are happy enough to demand big money contracts from the club for their own security but are happy to leave the club in the lurch and expect to be able to walk out on said contract at the click of their fingers. That’s why I don’t feel sorry for him
you counting last season as a good one because by my count he's had 2 poor ones (pearsons first one and last season). He had a world class season in the title one and this season he's on target again for a great season
you haven't dispelled anything, i hit you with facts that coutinho has better stats whilst not taking and missing penalties
As I said, to count the first season and last season as full seasons is harsh. He was very good in the second half of the great escape season but as I say, loads of people didn’t take any notice and probably hadn’t heard of Leicester
i suppose its fair to counts coutinhos seasons when he was playing with balloteskey and benterteskey under brenton rodgers?
.... and that's your "Big Difference" .... "Honestly love, it's 10" if you measure its' shadow and the sun's behind me"
he only got 4 goals and 3 assists for the year in 30 appearances. That's poor no matter how you cut it (during the great escape year)
Yeah of course, which is why the stats over the whole period tell a story. But anyway I’ve never tried to claim him to be the better player, I’m just pointing out the the gap in fees shouldn’t be as much as £100mill
They all came at the end so my point being after his first half season, you could say he’s been at least good if not great since then bar the first half of last season. Depends how you choose to look at it. If you’re looking at it trying to make the point he’s worth peanuts there’ll be a way to spin it that way, likewise from our point of view justifying him as a good player
you obviously don't debate well. Failure would be paying 100k + losing position in the league (if he doesn't play, or plays like a dog) and having a media storm. Not about how much profit you make. . If he still performs or you sell him for more than you expect then it would have been a good idea to keep him
Not what I said though is it. If you’re writing off whole seasons for players you’d barely get any players that could claim to be consistently top players year on year
changing the goalposts are we. You just said how much better mahrez was stats wise... i just proved that isn't the case (not even deducting mahrez pen goals)
Coutinho had worse seasons based on the stats .... but then he never had to live up to a previous one of having won the league, did he? ... just equal the one when he was one of Liverpool's 'nearly men'
yeah the stats thing was for fosse. Anyway as i said coutinhos a playermaker, not a go it alone rambo winger. Likewise do you think Mahrez should be nearly double the cost of aubamayang? different circumstances. I don't blame you for holding out but if you don't get 95m in the summer, then what you going to do?
