I'm starting to get really irritated with the whole Aubameyang saga.

It seems to me like we keep messing them around and they're getting pissed off.

Following their 2-2 draw at home to Freiburg, Dortmund's sporting director came out and said they are willing to sell him if their conditions are met. And that Arsenal have made several attempts, but haven't reached the terms they want.

Why do I have a feeling that another club is going to swoop in and take him right from under our noses?

This dilly-dallying we do is absolute nonsense and it just makes things even more difficult for ourselves.

Just get the deal done ffs!

Does make you think how off are Arsenal. When arsene had quoted that we are far from a deal in recent press conference..

Ruining out of time I be surprised if it any deal goes through..

Not necessarily scared someone will get him from under our nose, as much as I am scared the deal just won't happen period.

I wonder if our board has qualms that signing aubameyang won't help us achieve our target goals for this season.

I mean he can't play in the Europa league
There's only one game left in the carabao cup
And we are too far behind 4th in the league.

I wonder if that's why we don't "see the value"

Incredibly stupid if this is the case, but makes you wonder...

Looks like we want him but aiming for a bargain, so It's dragging on. Also we are in the dark on whether Wenger will stay another year. It would be utterly pointless if we end up outside top 4 and keeping Wenger on. But getting Auba would make sense if we aim to get back to CL places. I mean who else are we going to realistically get close to his quality?

Seems like there's a difference of about £8m-£10m in our valuation compared to Dortmund's. Everything else is in place, the player has agreed personal terms and Dortmund want to sell. I'd expect this to get done next week, probably with the teams meeting in the middle somewhere at near £55m-£60m

Aubameyang is worth it too. His goal scoring record is amazing.

I don't know what gives you so much confidence that we're going to get this done. Obviously I hope you are right because he'd be a phenomenal addition to the squad, but nothing from the club so far has given me the impression we will finalise this deal in the coming days.

It's quite normal for clubs to haggle over a fee. The rest of this deal seems in place though. I wish we'd just pay what they want and get it done, but I can understand why there is a negotiation process over the money.

As I say, I really hope you're right. It would be a huge signing and it'd boost the spirits of the fans as well.

    Fingers crossed I guess.

I know people say 'Just ****ing pay them what they want !' and clubs like City, Chelsea and Utd can do that, but we need to be more cautious not be held over a barrel by other club's demands, as we don't have a bottomless pit like the others.

Again people will say, 'oh but we have huge cash reserves and it's only £10m' but if we approached every transfer like that, then clubs would simply charge us what they wanted, knowing we'd fold and give into their demands. This is what's happened to Chelsea 10 years ago, suddenly a player worth £15m was being sold to Chelsea for £35m.

There's clearly a deal on the table here between Dortmund and Arsenal and most of the elements are already agreed, other than the fee. Like you I am praying that we can get it done, but I do think that the clubs will find a middle ground somewhere. There's almost too much too lose for all sides now for this deal not to go through.

Dortmund have come out and said he's available for £60 million. (we bid around 50) - The big issue now is any Club could come in and offer that fee and Dortmund would let him go.

We should have just got the deal done. It doesn't take days to submit a bid - mearly a phonecall.

My other concern is that I think Ozil will leave unless we show some real ambition.

We bid £85 Million for Lemar and £89 million for Mpabbe in the Summer - before selling Sanchez, Chamberlain and Walcott.

If Arsenal want the player an extra 5-10 million £'s should not be a major issue.

I think it's like what Piskie is describing that we don't want to be held over a barrel and be forced to pay high. But on the other hand I agree with what you're saying and unfortunately it's the climate we are living in. Comparing his £60m evaluation to other signings nowadays then he's worth putting in the extra £10m. I mean Oxo went for £35m and he was only good on a few occasions. In my opinion Oxo shouldn't have gone for more than £15m.

Auba's goal scoring record is impressive and although he fee is high, he should bring in loads of goals for 2-3 seasons min. He may be the difference between CL and no CL. That is an automatic £20m + a year.

I really hope we get him. As you say, his goals could be the difference between CL football and missing out. If we want to recruit other top players in the summer, then CL is going to be a big deciding factor for them coming here and it's going to make a difference keeping players like Ozil, Bellerin

Dortmund are saying they are holding out for £60m, which is natural, they would. And we are trying to test whether they will accept somewhere around £50m. It seems like everything else is in place other than the fee. Dortmund want to sell him, we want to buy him and the player has agreed terms. It would be a monumental **** up to screw this up now, surely it couldn't happen ......

I agree, I think it's down to who will blink first. Both clubs have got themselves in a bit of a hole now and if the deal falls through it could have an adverse reaction to either club's season. Both sets of fans will show their frustrations so the sale should go ahead. If it doesn't it would be a big mistake from the management. Too much has happened for it not to happen.

Good news and a bit worrying about Dortmund with their replacement. Can drag the deal on longer. Hope their replacement is lined up quickly.
