I give up

Whose your favoured sponsor for the VAR screens?
I’d like it to be sponsored by the TV show ‘Pointless’

What was so confusing? VAR will mean England won't go out on dodgy goals, which means instead you'll be getting knocked out of the WC on penalties.

Depressing to think the most exciting moments will be looking at the screen and holding cards up with Goal! on when it is confirmed it is one.

The rugby one is only used for the games live on TV. In football it would be for every game. In the PL at least. Lower down the leagues cost would be an issue. Even at the best run club in the Football League.

Excellent point. That really is a depressing thought.

It's not the delay in terms of time, it's the breaking up of things. No one knows whether a goal has counted or not until after the delay. Not being able to celebrate a ball hitting the net any more but instead celebrating a word on a big screen.

In fact while we're at it, why not just simulate the whole thing on the latest edition of Football Manager. Do away with any possibility of incorrect results - the better team will always win and nothing will be influenced by human error.

You mean like whenever there's a controversial goal at the moment and the Ref runs over to check with his linesman?

Goals that are clear goals will still be scored and celebrated in real time..

Your second point is some sort of weird straw man as if VAR implicitly favours bigger/better teams in any way.

I hope the video ref gets a fair trial...judged by his peers. He'll be out in 2 if he keeps his nose clean.

Where does that expression come from ?
'nose clean'?
