I suppose it's a question of balancing caution with extravagance. The way recent windows have gone it seems that caution is usually the winner.

I'd suggest that that's the wrong route this time. We need some positive financial intervention from Tan to signal a spend that will make the difference and not just provide more of the same.

Huge bucks aren't needed, but there has to be an acceptance that to a greater degree, you get what you pay for.

I see Meite is now back with City from his half-season loan to Crawley.

They want him back but Warnock considering him as a covering option up front for Ward's absence. Wouldn't mind that as long as we spend the max we can afford on the midfield.

Interesting that a team below us in the league and who are alleged to have outbid us for his services now look to let us loan him.
It always seems strange when you loan a player from a division below or from teams in your division that the player isn't first choice for.
I know some managers don' like certain players or players don' fit into a teams style. Just seems odd.
If Warnock sees something in him we need to trust his judgement.

    Like Feeney?

I'm all for giving Warnock a free hand but the first few sentences of your post say it all for me. Feeney worries me on that score. <ok>

I'd prefer Matt Kennedy to Feeney.

    I'd agree on that.

I realise we needed cover for Kadeem when he got injured in that pre-season friendly but Kennedy hadn't gone out on loan then. He had something to prove whereas Feeney was something of a journeyman.

I'd put Halford in the same bracket - never going to win us anything but someone that warnock new.

Norwich fans appear sure Wildschut is coming to us. Some think he's crap and pleased to see him leave but others are more positive, seeing him as quick and direct but lacking in his final ball. They also feel he hasn't been given enough game time since Alex Reid got fired - he doesn't fit Farke's game plan.

The poor final ball seems a regular problem with us as well as not getting enough bodies in the box in the right place. However, a main feature of our early season form was the ability to attack quickly down the flanks and make the best of whatever turned up in the box. I have defended NML as I thought he was brought back too soon due to our increasing injury crisis and that he has to be given the ball to do any damage but perhaps he has also got a little complacent with Kadeem still out and only Feeney for competition. <doh> Like others I'm not sure what Feeney brings to the party especially if we get Wildschut.

Where is this dominant mid field general we are all crying out for? I didn't think for one moment we would get the guy from Turkey but it would be nice to have a scent of someone we could hang our hats on.

All quiet on the Grabban front other than he has gone back to Bournemouth and Bolton seem keen to keep hold of Madine so not much on there. We have got Meite back from Crawley though - 2 goals in 19 games. Whoop de do!!!!

All in all, not what we wanted 10 days into the window.

The only immediate consolation is that Sunderland fans are more depressed than us. Their prediction league for Saturday is about 50/50 between us and them winning (2-0 to us is the most common score) but they are very unhappy at the lack of incoming transfer activity apart from a young defender on loan from Chelsea.

I'm concerned this transfer window is following a well trodden path for City fans - a lot of noise but mostly hot air.

I'd love to be proved wrong!!

    It seems quiet everywhere.

At least we're not wishing the window was closed for fear of losing our better players. They're all injured!

If that was always on the cards, makes you wonder why we kept Feeney.

Again, Cardiff City are 'delighted' to welcome Yanic to the CCS. Is this more delighted or less delighted than when they decided to extend Feeney's loan? <yikes>
