    How flash were you lot drinking Southern Comfort at 17?

    When I was 17, it was a toss up between a bottle of Clan Dew, or sucking the Meths out my Mamod mini steam engine.

    Gin is mine. The smell of it brings memories of teenage disasters flooding back and makes me retch.

    Cheers You are correct it is the Jura Origin. Enjoyed em all. Still prefared the Ledaig https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/12983/ledaig-10-year-old. Out of the 3 it was the most potent at 46%. From the Isle of Mull.

    Southern Comfort and Lemonade was mine. Not touched it for over 20 years yet still feel ill at the thought of it. Same with vodka and tonic, although I do like a good neat Polish Vodka.

    And of course the classic Diamond White and Copperhead cider, (about 30p a can and 8-9% ABV).

    Did anyone drink 20/20 as a teenager? The alcopop before alcopops were invented.

    And mine... drank a full bottle in a car* on the way to visit my mate at Sheffield Uni and was so ****ed by the time I got there that I spewed up all over the bus into town and got taken straight back to his gaff. I haven’t been able to touch the stuff since.

    What a top night out that was.

    * I wasn’t driving.

    That's exactly why I cannot drink whisky now, I got totally pissed out my head on it, and threw up for 3 days afterwards. Can drink or smell the stuff without boking.

    It’s a very personal thing is Whisky, my favourite is Old Pultney, don’t like the peaty West Coast ones.

    My drink to avoid is without doubt Ouzo after Greek Island hopping in the late 80s.

    Turkish Raki is just as bad, it was a night on the Raki that led me to the whole mossie repellent incident.

    Talisker update ...

    Was in tesco today, the Skye is back up to £39, but the Storm (another distiller's special) is down to £30.
    The standard Talisker 10 year, though nice, seems pricy at £40 !

    When I visited the distillery the special one was 57 north (a nod to the distillery's latitude) was far more expensive than the 10.
