Jose Mourinho says the transfer window is not comparable to even three years ago
Jose Mourinho has responded to Virgil van Dijk's £75m move by reminding Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp of his threat to quit football if astronomical fees became commonplace.

The Reds made the first significant move of the winter transfer window after agreeing a deal with Southampton to make Van Dijk the world's most expensive defender.

He will arrive at Anfield 18 months after Klopp insisted he wanted to "do it differently" following Paul Pogba's then-world record £92.35m switch to Manchester United, with the German suggesting he did not want to be involved in the game if such amounts became the norm rather than the exception.

I used to like Mourinho. Probably because he had old bacon faces number and was a bit of a cheeky lad. But ever since his second stint in the country, he's just been a whinging f#cking c#nt who throws anybody under the bus if anything goes wrong. His second season and already the rumblings of discontent from all parties......

I think it was more a case of him being new to us in his first stint. He doesn't do anything different, he's simply a tosser

Maybe the hack that asked the question, he got a nice click bait headline out of it <ok>

This post seems more like a fume than a laugh to me

I think Mourinho's comment was more playful / tongue in cheek than how "serious" it is being reported.

Much like the misleading "world record for a defender" line...

...Lukaku cost £90m ffs!

The original article on the BBC right after the the two had been interviewed went from a little jibe from Maureen and nothing to the one on their page now which is clearly sensationalism and **** stirring.

If they open it for comments it'll be a clickbait bloodbath.<laugh>

Maybe we just play VVD in midfield then we won’t be a world record for a defender, will stay as pogba.

So no knighthood yet again for Kenny Dalglish, in footballing terms his playing and manager careers are exemplary, in terms of humanity and humility he is at the top, in terms of what he did personally for the families of the Hillsborough victims it's unmeasurable, in terms of what him and his wife Marina have done for cancer and other charities on Merseyside they've been superstars.

The honours system is driven mostly by politics, hence why Thatcher's government overlooked Bob Paisley and May's government given Nick Clegg a knighthood this year.
There's a definite bias when Ringo Starr, a man that turned his back on this country in the 70's and moved to California gets a knighthood.
****ing stinks tbh.

Classic. I wonder if Jorgen will be reminded of this in his next press conference/meltdown interview.

He can solve it with one hashtag: [HASHTAG]#readthepost[/HASHTAG]

Klopp said he preferred to build a team than “collect top players” and, of spending £100m on one, added: “The day that this is football, I’m not in a job any more.”

£75m < £100m

The irony is Mourinho is one of the biggest reasons transfer prices have sky rocketed in the first place, back when he was in charge of Chelsea.
