I have my doubts, English people are renowned for a sense of humour, maybe it is just that you have not taken your medication today
Yeah I can appreciate a show of humour. I'll let you know when one comes along. I'm not 80 and I don't take medication.
Typical England have one reasonable day give people hope then **** it up spectacularly. Our mentality is soft as **** no other country when in with a chance of a win would have been all out after adding only another 50 runs this morning it's a complete embarrassment frankly. Our batting is ****. If Root and Cook fail we are all out for 200. Heck even if one if them makes a 50 we are all out for 200. Don't know what is happening with Stokes court case but he hasn't been convicted of anything yet so innocent until proven guilty get him in there might give us some much needed backbone in the middle order and get into them with his bowling. Australia arent even good that's the worry. They haven't been that good since around 2000 yet we are staring a third consecutive 5-0 down under in the face. Even the 90s weren't this bad when they were awesome and we were ****. I could go on all day about the lack of (good) options in the batting department and the over reliance on an ageing Anderson but I simply can't be bothered. I was hoping to wake up to some good news this morning but we are England I should have known before I went to bed really. Most annoying thing is I was offered 12-1 on an Australia 5-0 about a month ago. I knew then I should have taken it. Would have helped numb some of the pain at least.
Was a great test match to watch all in all. Batting on a 5th day pitch with variable bounce and turn (and some simply stupid shots - (Vince and Ali) did for us. Much better all around though and more promising than the first test. Need more right handers in the line up to negate the effectiveness of Lyon (who is a very good spinner - far better than I thought he was)
I had £20 on us to be bowled out by lunch @6/1. A big price giving our history in these situations. We've showed our class now, albeit for a short time. It's just a shame that we are next up at the Waca!
Amazing how Stokes gets better with his absence Who was it kept telling beefy moeen was the better all rounder?
Stokes has been the best all rounder in the world for the last 12 months. Hence him shattering records in the IPL auction. He bats, he bowls, he fields. He's a massive loss.
Stokes can only do so much - it's not his fault that some of our batsmen keep throwing their wickets away regardless of where he is in the world. 5-0 is absolutely on the cards here because England look mentally battered.
The problem England have is that they always try and make everyone the same. I played cricket to a decent level and could have made pro if not for injury. The one thing mist cricketers hated was to be stopped on the way to the middle to bat and be told what to do. Watch root et al next time When Ali and bairstow were in they looked frightened. Both are attacking players tell them to play their natural game. The match was lost but if both had smashed the Aussie quicks around it would have given them something to think about Bairstow let go because he has the tail, now they want him further up the batting order, why? He will become reserved further up in similar conditions his his wicket away too. Look at warner, an attacking player who attacks. Natural game. Oh and woakes bowled better than Anderson.
Like drawing teeth this mind!! Earlier you laughed when someone said Ben Stokes was the best all rounder in the game (Cricket) over the last 12 months which is why he broke records for the amounts he went for in the IPL. So who has been better?
