Well that was one of the most frustrating games of football I've ever had the displeasure of watching, Burnley and Dyche will get all the plaudits and people will say they 'managed' the game but basically we've gifted it to them and they didn't play well, we are the football manifestation of all fart and no sh*t upfront and concede from pretty much our first shot on target every game defensively.
Gabbiadini gets a lot of protection from our fans because he is one of our more capable players in terms of ability but he was really poor today, looked disinterested, consistently offside and didn't make the good runs that he normally does, I get he doesn't have good service etc but he needs to do more as the lone striker. Austin CANNOT play as a lone striker so bringing him on and waiting to bring on Long is pointless.
Boufal looked like the better of our attacking players and I think we need to keep him on the team sheet for at least the next half a dozen, Redmond or Tadic can go to the bench although Redmond had the better game, at least in the first half, today, unfortunately we don't have the strength in depth to drop both of them because they are both so out of form.
Cedric and Bertrand both have 0 end product this season, get to the byline and every time its a poor cross, not even one that one of our attacking players should get hold of, its just a poor cross and bad decision making time and time again.
I'm looking for positives, Romeu had one of his better games this season (not hard!) and broke up the player better than he has done, Davis didn't have a bad game either. We tried some interplay and quick passes in the middle more which I prefer to the endless crosses with 0% accuracy, it almost paid off in the first half but second half it dissipated apart from the first 10 minutes.
Boring, predictable, slow, same story as the rest of the season and we aren't even playing any of our youth players. How is this in line with our philosophy and values... 'Southampton Way' wasn't going to come from Pellegrino and his style of play so why did we go with him? We might as well have stuck with Puel if we wanted this style of football, I think we would have more points on the board now if he had!
Fans sounded like they really wanted to get behind the team today, it was quiet at times which is understandable but considering the quality of football we were serving up I think they did well up to the goal.
You can tell its serious when I make my first thoughtful post in months

guess I'll go back to posting reaction gifs.
