The new contract for Forster in particular is going to be a killer. Really hard to drop your keeper when he's on the books for another four and a half years as one of your top earners.
Of course you can. Sorry but this is bollocks, I know I say this every week but I will keep on saying it. YES, the board ****ed up the Summer, like they did last Summer. But the squad is still undoubtedly better than what has been on show so far. Pellegrino doesn't seem to have an idea on how to change a game so far to me. There doesn't seem to be any general idea or plan to our play and it's worrying tbh. Not saying I've lost faith in him yet, but we've had probably the easiest run of fixtures in the league out of anyone and I'm yet to see any glimpse of anything that is telling me he is going to turn it around.
So just read through, sounds like much the same. Can’t see Pellegrino lasting til Xmas like I said the other day, with the fixtures we have and the fans starting to turn It isn’t going to be pretty. Les Reed should be binned but he won’t be. We should be alright overall I’d say but we aren’t great on paper and shouldn’t be expecting to beat any teams in this division as we have ****ed up the last few transfer windows
Like I say, we scored in 4 consecutive games, that might end up being a golden period #bringbackjonnyshuttle
Well that was one of the most frustrating games of football I've ever had the displeasure of watching, Burnley and Dyche will get all the plaudits and people will say they 'managed' the game but basically we've gifted it to them and they didn't play well, we are the football manifestation of all fart and no sh*t upfront and concede from pretty much our first shot on target every game defensively. Gabbiadini gets a lot of protection from our fans because he is one of our more capable players in terms of ability but he was really poor today, looked disinterested, consistently offside and didn't make the good runs that he normally does, I get he doesn't have good service etc but he needs to do more as the lone striker. Austin CANNOT play as a lone striker so bringing him on and waiting to bring on Long is pointless. Boufal looked like the better of our attacking players and I think we need to keep him on the team sheet for at least the next half a dozen, Redmond or Tadic can go to the bench although Redmond had the better game, at least in the first half, today, unfortunately we don't have the strength in depth to drop both of them because they are both so out of form. Cedric and Bertrand both have 0 end product this season, get to the byline and every time its a poor cross, not even one that one of our attacking players should get hold of, its just a poor cross and bad decision making time and time again. I'm looking for positives, Romeu had one of his better games this season (not hard!) and broke up the player better than he has done, Davis didn't have a bad game either. We tried some interplay and quick passes in the middle more which I prefer to the endless crosses with 0% accuracy, it almost paid off in the first half but second half it dissipated apart from the first 10 minutes. Boring, predictable, slow, same story as the rest of the season and we aren't even playing any of our youth players. How is this in line with our philosophy and values... 'Southampton Way' wasn't going to come from Pellegrino and his style of play so why did we go with him? We might as well have stuck with Puel if we wanted this style of football, I think we would have more points on the board now if he had! Fans sounded like they really wanted to get behind the team today, it was quiet at times which is understandable but considering the quality of football we were serving up I think they did well up to the goal. You can tell its serious when I make my first thoughtful post in months guess I'll go back to posting reaction gifs. please log in to view this image
I used to hate international breaks but they are saviour at the moment. I can't believe I said I thought we'd win this one.
They are professional footballers who don’t appear to give a ****, apart from Davis, Romeu, Yoshida and Gabbiadini. Several times today I saw various players let the ball go out for a throw rather than run to keep it in when there were players in attacking positions. Tadic has given up, Gabbiadini seems resigned never to receive a decent ball, Boufal at least tries to do something different but never gets any support. I agree Pellegrino should be more dynamic but if the players don’t do what he wants them to, how is he supposed to react?
If he can't get them to perform to his instructions then that's on him too and it's worse than I thought quite frankly. I think we're too defensive and there's no real plan. Just seems like he says "Go out there, keep possession and see if we score, but make sure we don't get caught!" Then the opposition score and we're like "****! what now?!"
Can`t undertsand bringing Long on against a defence where there is no room in behind. Surely later in the game he should have gone with his two best penalty box finishers - Gabbi and Austin. And play 3 at the back and push the full backs on FFS !
Nah I’ll trade out when we get down to a lower price, around Xmas I’d imagine if the games against the big teams go to form we should come in a fair bit in terms of price
