please log in to view this image Goals galore is here for the 4th match running - currently responsible for 4 out of our 9 league goals this season After a disappointing performance at Brighton on Sunday we're back on home soil as we welcome a Burnley side who have made a brilliant start to the season and currently sit in 7th with 16 points from 10 games, though a win on Saturday would take us above the Lancashire side in the league table. Officials: Referee: Lee Probert Assistants: Simon Beck, Andy Garratt Fourth official: Kevin Friend Last time out: Saints drew at Brighton after taking an early lead and seemingly attempting to sit on it for 85 minutes. Burnley won a poor game 1-0 at home to Newcastle on Monday night. Even more impressive than Burnleys start has been their away form, with wins at Chelsea & Everton plus draws at Liverpool and Spurs. By contrast our home form isn't great and they'll really fancy themselves to come here and shut us out while our defence seems to like to cough up chances so far this season. I know a lot of people think this is a game we 'should' be winning but it's going to be a very tough match and patience (and alcohol!) will probably be the order of the day. My team/s: Back 3: ----------- Back 4: Fraser ------------ Fraser Cedric ------------ Cedric Maya -------------- Maya Virgil ------------ Virgil Hoedt ------------ Bertrand Bertrand ----------- Davis/Pierre Romeu ------------ Romeu Davis ------------ Gabbi Boufal ------------- Tadic Gabbi ------------ Boufal Tadic ------------ Long Prediction: Sadly I think the goals galore will end here and we're due a 0-0 home draw. Up the ****ing Saints
Rushed. No videos. Late for work? Not even a St K's biscuit for this, unless he has some stale ones left over. Could do better
If people do start posting this is a "should win game" and "it's only Burnley," then they really don't understand football. This is a team that the manager had been working and building for 5 years and he now has them as one of the hardest teams to break down and beat. It's going to be very tough.
Same score as the WBA one. Knocked up on the phone quick so might add more later in the week if I get to a PC (I didn't for WBA though). You're lucky you got the top photo tbh
Agreed but people will still think it. Can imagine it being a poisonous atmosphere on Saturday if it doesn't go well.
There are no easy games for Saints this season....if you can't score there is always a risk of succumbing to the odd goal. However, we aren't particularly easy to beat....or we wouldn't be half way up the table. We have to win a game just by the law of averages.....so a hopeful 2-1 or 2-0 (oh, be still my beating heart).
Doesn't really belong on this thread, but perhaps it will bring us luck. Boufal's goal is shown in Sky's goal of the month comp. Boufal and Coutinho neck and neck. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-premier-league-goal-of-the-month-for-october
If it is down to luck we are buggered...as we have none. I note that they make the opposition shoot from distance....that's what we used to do.
None of the Midlands Massive could face the 350 mile round trip for this so rather than driving the whole thing myself, I am staying at home and watching on a crap stream...how sad Praying for a 1-0 win with our top striker, Steve Davis MBE smashing in the winner late in the second half
I can already hear the "fans" around me complaining that "we should be beating this s***" after about 20 minutes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but teams don't end up in the Premier League because they've collected tokens from their cereal; I'm pretty sure they're there on ability. And Burnley, while not the most exhilarating team to watch, do have ability. Given our attacking frailties at the moment, I'm hoping for a 1-0, but expecting a 0-0, or frustrating late 0-1 loss.
They should have respect for the opposition....I'm sure fans of the big teams thought that and were angry when we beat them. Remember those days (sigh).
I blame Fraser. I plan to cheer sarcastically each time he catches the ball, to groan in comical fear every time the ball's passed back to him and to lay the blame for any goals solely on his plate. I should fit in quite nicely. Vin
You'll also have to complain EVERY SINGLE TIME a ball gets passed backwards, even if there is clearly no way of getting the ball forward without losing possession. And comment on how nothing's changed since we got rid of Puel. Then you're getting close...
Don't forget to moan when we haven't scored after 30 seconds and about how there's no urgency in the team
