Its amazing how quickly these things can turn around matey. We are scoring plenty of goals but leaking them at an unsustainable rate too. It is not, I repeat it is NOT a tough league and I've yet to see an outstanding team in it. Bottom can beat top and with 31 games left and only 15 points between us at 2nd bottom and Derby in last play off spot everything is still to play for. We were just as isolated when Keane came in but ended up winning the thing. I dont think we can do that but with the right man getting the likes of McGeady (goals and assists) , Grabban (3rd top scorer) , Watmore, Williams, McManaman ticking and better stability in that defence we could go on a run. Biggest weakness is the keeper though.

I’m gonna have to say credit him for saving the press.

Hollow words though, if he ‘supported’ the club we don’t shift 75% of the squad and replace it for £1.5million.
 
My take on the interview (using only direct quotes):

"I am involved financially. I've put a significant amount of new capital into the club this summer. This didn't go to buy new players. This is largely with many of the defensive players we had last season in the Premier League. That's not acceptable.

Our view at the club was that we needed to make the change. I have got the interests of the club at heart and I am not going to do anything.

I'm as involved as I've ever been in my business life and my family spending time in the US

I don't believe that this squad of players belongs in my business life. I do understand the fans want me out, but I am certain that they would not have been happy with our mistakes of the past"

He's an arbitrageur mate. Some speculative deals you win, some you lose.

It's the name of the game.

I don't get why he's clinging on to this one deal though.

Maybe he's committed to the club like he says.

But if that's so, why is he handling this one so badly? And for so long?

Its a small world these days, the owners of the two Manchester teams don't live in Britain, its all down to results, and we all want to see ours improve, and I guess Short does too, but its not a given, and we will have to wait and see what he does about it. He has had his fingers burnt badly at SAFC the magic carpet ride is in ashes, but we will rise again its just a matter of time, and in football things can change overnight, we all live in hope. <ok>

The man is delusional to think that we would ever be a seventh place club whilst he is still owner and chairman.

The new manager is going to need £50m + to recruit new players at today's prices, but sadly that is never going to happen as long as Short is calling the shots.

When you look at some of the bigger clubs in our league that have suffered from austerity for years like Forrest, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds Utd, I'm preparing myself for a good few years in the championship, because the money simply isn't there and there was no indication during his interview yesterday that anyone is interested in buying the club.

Never has it been more difficult to keep the faith. I'm off to throw myself in front of a bus! :emoticon-0100-smile

Why should he write off a 100m? Because the way we're going he'll lose the lot and we'll lose our club. People have already lost their job and I don't mean the manager, I mean the people of the city who have been struck off.

I'd write that amount off in a heart beat in his position. Business he can't fathom going from bad to worse, i'd be gone and I'd learn my lesson to stick to what I know.

Maybe thats why your not Bri <laugh> my point was that they are not and the only thing we need are some positive performances and results on field and the Short could live anywhere he wants it would not matter one iota, just been informed we are now bottom as I type. :emoticon-0106-cryin

I wonder what he's got to say looking at the league table tonight.

6th or 7th in the PL is looking further and further away right now.

No problem though. O'Shea will have us climbing the league in no time at all <doh><doh><doh>
 
Something about finishing 6th or 7th in the premier league hehe, the last 2 owners have been the worst in our 138 year history how is that possible ? won nowt relegated In1977, (not Murray though) Murray 1985,87,91,97, 2003 (record low points) , 2006 plus 1987, 1990, 1998, 2004 (plus f a cup semi) play off defeats, plus 1985 l cup final defeat, 1999 semi final defeat, 1992 f A cup final defeat , Short 2014 league cup final defeat, relegation 2017 possibly 2018. This is unbelievable the talk is for the guilt they have, and frankly which ever way you say it they have both failed this club, simple as that. The cart was put before the horse at our club a 49,000 seater for what reason ?, concerts now of course to get lost revenue back. I remember 1987 but to think to have 10 years in the premier league with all that money thrown at us and be bottom of the championship is a crying shame. A quality manager and funds was the answer, ah well if Short could turn the clock back eh. At least WHU will finish up like us once Moyes gets in.

A new manager will need to overcome the alleged player power - it's all an horrific state :emoticon-0149-no:

Bit of a contradiction there. O'Shea would energise the club because of his influence but the players also have too much influence.

If he was effective at motivating and organising the defence in an unofficial player/manager role then surely we wouldn't concede so many goals.

Its always difficult for players to move upstairs to manage the squad they've just left mate. The players don't see their manager, they just see a mate wearing a different hat. It can be difficult to earn the respect of the squad.

I'm sure there must have been a few who've done successfully but I can't think of anyone.

JOS would be a disastrous appointment imo.
