Third in the league, making champion league for three consecutive years, also above Liverpool in the league for three or more consecutive years is something to write home for Spurs fans. And what would you consider a success for your club this season?
do we win a prize if we get the correct answer ?Your club. Just answer the question.
And what would you consider a success for your club this season?
This is about definitions. Success surely must be about winning trophies, titles. A "successful" season then would be for us winning the title or the CL (or to a lesser extent the FA cup)
I presume what we are talking about above is a "good" season. A season that we can say we have maintained momentum or improved from last season.
A good season for me would be:
Top 4 in the premiership or better
Q/F or better in the CL
A good run in a cup competition: FA cup runners up or better.
Cannot agree with you more.A) no chance
B) would need massive luck in draw
C) fa cup final? Jeez... need a bit of luck with draw too.
For me as off a good season puts a trophy on the table. We are in 3rd season post 2 summers with klopp and so transitions should be over
It's time to deliver
Cannot agree with you more.
What you are saying that having a good season is now very much based on luck. We shouldn't revise our definition of a good season based on our awful start.
Unfortunately the way football is at the moment, no season can be considered good or remotely successful if the club does not get a CL place next season. Even if we win the FA cup and get to the CL final. That's now the minimum requirementWell then the answer is to win any trophy thus securing Europe the following year and ideally get into cl.
4th to 2nd on its own imo is not a successful season... its a progression and opportunity to build.upon but you have to see that 10 years ago no body remembers who finished where in 2007 bar the champions and perhaps who won the cups
Agreed. If you're going to do anything, do it to the best of your ability.I agree totally with this, I grew up believing anything was worth winning and still do.
Read my post back and put an edited in before you posted this because it looked a bit sarky![]()
It's already a disappointment of a season. Anything said now is just making the best of a bad lot.
Making that best would be
A) 6th min in table. = Europa league
B) last 16 of cl. We will get hammered but we have no business not getting 2nd at least having seen maribor and spartak.
C) I would like a decent fa cup run. That means if draw is anywhere kind that we would be in 6th round before playing a decent side and from there a sf is possible. The draw could put us away to city in 3rd round so... well.. we can but try our best.
That's us making do with a season where imo we ****ed the transfer window up and really have gone backwards
And yet, you started this discussion with a dig at Spurs for something you cannot possibly achieve. You might not like them, but they should be applauded for the way they have progressed the last few seasons.
I don't like Spurs, but ridiculing their steps of progression because they haven't won anything is daft. They are going forward, while a lot of other clubs are falling behind. I suppose its different for you lot, who are in the belief that next will be your year, but I'd like to see the charts show my clubs steady progression season after season.

Get to ****, if you want a serious discussion stop with the stupid "next year" crap.
So pointing out that Spurs ain't won anything when they haven't is daft?, Until they actually do win something they haven't progressed, unless you reckon perpetual failure is success.![]()

In the dim and distant past, I was apprenticed into an industry where quality was paramount - get it right no matter what it took. Years later I went to a new firm, doing the same job, but the owners' attitude was more "near enough is good enough - as long as we get paid". This wasn't entirely their fault - the economic times they were a-changing - but I found that change of priority really difficult to take in.
I've often said on here I don't blame players for not being good enough, but I will condemn them for just not trying hard enough.
As for trophies, I don't count the one-off show-piece money spinners - Charity Shield, Super Cup, etc - but any cup that takes a bit of effort to win is worth having imo.
