It's the Man Utd ego. It never leaves you. Apparently it means that despite having next to no managerial experience, you expect that very publicly throwing your name into the hat will get people excited.

He is ex-Everton as well. Coupled with the ManU ego I suspect that makes him think he's very capable of doing the job. I'd like them to try Ryan Giggs. No, that's a lie. I wouldn't wish him on them. These ex-players need to go and learn their trade in the lower divisions.

I can be grateful for that day at wembley, but I can also think he is a huge ego that just won't allow him to be successful properly as a manager. His pattern is exactly the same everywhere he goes.

Thanks Pards for Rickie and Wembley, but sorry, just not for me.

I remember being pleasantly surprised when we announced Pardew as manager. I enjoyed his time here but at the same time wasn't upset or disappointed when he left.
His record also suggests we did the right thing in replacing him as it's shown he has a very good record for about 14-16 months and then it all falls apart.

Mrs Fonte said he has a big ego, allegedly.

Your analysis is all too true, and there is evidence as you've said. I just didn't like the wind ups from the Northam the first time he came back with Newcastle. Whatever offences he committed, he did play a big part in turning the club around and deserved better than that, in my view.

Yeah, I don't really care about Pard's percieved personality all I know is that the second half of the 2009/10 season was one of the most enjoyable I have had supporting the Saints so I thank him for that.

18 wins, 55 goals and a Trophy at Wembley in a total of 28 matches after the New Year and desperately unlucky to miss out on the play-offs and some of the football we played was sublime, it was a big turn around from the gloom of the previous Summer.

Deserves another chance as he did nothing to deserve the sack. When teams face relegation, not being entertaining enough fades into insignificance. Be interesting to see how free scoring his next team is....as it looks like it is a team problem at Saints as both Puel and Pellegrino can get the team in a position to score but without an end result.

Hopefully Puel will take Redmond off our hands and turn him in to the next Thierry Henry.

Thing is, is that many have undervalued Pardew's contribution. Indeed, I think it surprised several when Rickie told of what an influence Pards had been.

I remember that Pardew turned Saints from losers to winners. Not overnight, as we drew too many while under the 10 point penalty, but he got there. That change around from a losing mentality to a winning mentality [the first time I'd heard any football manager say it, now it's commonly heard] took a fair few games. And took us to a Cup Final win. Deserves to be remembered reasonably at least.

It was a tough start trying to shake off that minus ten. Remember the Brighton game (Gus Poyet had just taken over) & they came to ours. Had we won that we would have entered the top half of the table for the first time. Man, that was a painful defeat.

I'd say its time for pay back, but pretty sure we have done that already!

Perhaps he will be like Pochettino and suddenly start being better at interviews when he leaves Saints. :)

    https://uk.yahoo.com/sports/news/ju...shows-worrying-lack-leadership-113405274.html

Interesting article that lambasts Klopp for his treatment of Lovren....who apparently is playing with an injury that requires injections. The author suggests that he is using Lovren as a scapegoat for his failure to sort out his defence....firstly by cocking up the purchase of Virgil and secondly by failing to have a plan B. He certainly comes out badly for not standing up for his player....this is not a nice man.

Also it is pointed out that Lovren is better as the junior partner in a CB pairing....he needs to be told what to do and when to do it. He is describe as a functional player who did well at Saints when partnered by Fonte and having Wanyama and Schneiderlin in front of him. Dejan should have stayed here....but then we all knew that.

One of my many favorite Rickie moments, I think on Pards first return as a manager to St Marys. Waiting to come on as sub Rickie finds himself stood next to Pardew, cue big grin and offer of a handshake to a slightly bemused but obviously appreciative Pards.
