Credit cards for most purchases, pay them off every month and I get loads of 'rewards' back. I normally have some cash lying around the house too as I sometimes do deals for people who like to pay in cash.

Doesn't your lass nick it?
I seem to remember you saying.

She takes the cash for sure as it disappears at an alarming rate. The credit cards I get two cards on each account so she doesn't take mine.

I don't even look at the statements now, last time I looked she'd spent £250 on candles.

I'd forgotten all about them.

My wife changed her car before we went on holiday and received a cheque through the post for her road tax. The bugger's still stuck on the fridge door! God knows when well get the chance to stick it in the bank!
Me two ours just got banked on Tuesday been there for weeks

Things are a bit different in this village, mate. We have one Chinese takeaway, they don't accept cards. The fruit and veg shop and barbers in Sacriston, they don't accept cards either. Cash is still a necessity around here.
im sure i can see a piece of string dangling in that avatar do you have to pull it to get your cash out..<laugh><laugh>

Cash almost all of the time. A few years back I did my christmas shopping with card rather than cash and realised at the end of the day I only had a vague idea of what I had spent. If I use cash I know what I've spent exactly and it makes me think about it more. I love not spending money, it's like a passion for me.

Anything that puts a buffer between spending money and the feeling of spending money really isn't doing you any favours. When I was young my parents/ grandparents used to make comments about kids not understanding the value of money - nowadays I don't think they have a chance if it's not a physical thing. It's an abstract concept they often don't concern themselves with - a surefire way to never having money irrespective of how much you earn.

I liked the idea that came up years ago , but never happened. A card, which you would load from your account, but wouldn't need PIN or anything. In a contactless way, just show it to a machine and transfer the funds to the retailer, who would at some stage download his total from his machine to his bank. So if you went to the newsagent for the paper, no trying to get coins together to pay 70p, or no getting loads of coins change. Would also use in vending machines , parking meters etc. If you had £20 on the card and lost it, it would be just like losing a £20 note.

When the first Card came out, Nat West I think, it was front loaded.
You transferred (say) £20 from your Account onto your card and drew on it till it was used up.
(This from memory)
The main advantage was that you could get at cash out of hours.
This was quickly overtaken by the sort we have now that are linked to your Account.

I believe that cheques will go the way of Bills of Exchange and disappear from the system in the not to distant future.

As for me I get my 'pocket money' in cash out of the Cashpoint.
This pays for the important things of life like the Grandsons pocket money and my beer.
Living close to a Supermarket I get just about everything else with my card.

Still crying about the last incident where you threw the first stone, just as you have on this thread. Aye what ever. Showing yourself up as the antagonising troublemaker arsehole as per. You crack on. <ok>

I like that -contacless debit cards are a holders liability and fraudsters golden ticket. I think plastic money is the first step to getting rid of cash as it's dodgy to handle and separate the notes :emoticon-0137-clapp:emoticon-0149-no:

I never, ever carry cash, haven’t for years. Even abroad I don’t get currency I just use card.

Contactless is protected, and it’s got a £30 limit anyway. It is the future, I don’t know how they will make it fraud proof, just the very idea of it is a fraudsters dream, but as mentioned earlier, it’s gonna be something like fingerprint recognition or whatever.

I used to swear I lost cash when I was on a night out or whatever, sadly with onlyvusing card now I’m aware that I’m just a ****ing idiot on that score...
