Figures from the tube between 2012 and 2013

HALF of all convicted pickpockets on the Tube are Romanian (and officials say the figures are the tip of the iceberg)
  • Of the 170 convictions between 2012 and 2013 52 per cent were Romanian
  • Britons were also guilty of stealing from fellow train passengers
  • Home Office says criminals are liable to be removed if they 'abuse' rights.

Figures released by British Transport Police show half of all convictions for pickpocketing on the London Underground are handed out to Romanians.

Information revealed through a Freedom of Information request shows out of the 5,280 reported pickpocketing incidents on the London Underground between November 1, 2012 and October 31, 2013, there were just 170 convictions.

Of those convictions, 52 per cent were Romanian.
That's not current - it's actually numbers from before Romanians were allowed to work in the U.K. Under freedom of movement.

It's also an article from the Daily Nazi (that I note you've not referenced)

So all those pickpockets are suddenly going straight. ho ho !

It is hard to get up to date figures, you need to ask under the freedom of information act. The facts certainly justify my comment about the ability to reject those considered undesirable.

Old data that shows less than two a week were convicted. If there were loads of them in front of the courts every week you might say there was a problem, but there is nothing in these figures to prove anything.

The article did the job it was intended for though, it made him label an entire nation as pick pocketing shysters who we should be scared of.........

Not true, there are excellent Romanians in the UK doing worthwhile jobs and contributing towards the economy. There are also quite a few organised gangs which we would rather not have. It is the ability to chuck out the undesirables which is sought.

Yes I did see those figures which made me say they proved nothing. The cases that were reported and no conviction took place could have been by any nationality including English.

You could extrapolate that if over half of those caught were Romanians which might suggest something like half of the crimes were committed by Romanians, it would make sense.

Yeah mate, what do we do? Stop them at customs and ask them whether they're pick pockets or not?

We have the ability to chuck out undesirables now love, Cameron negotiated the changes to EU citizens deportation in Feb last year. Shame you never bothered yourself to read what he actually came back with.......

After Brexit they will not be allowed in by right, they will be required to have a job waiting for them.

So it went from 'half of all pickpockets in London are Romanian' to 'half of the people caught in a year in the LONDON UNDERGROUND were Romanian', but 4-5 years ago.

From that evidence I can honestly claim that 100% of SH's posts on the matter over the last few hours have been pure unadulterated xenophobic horseshit.

The pick pocketing stats you posted were from before Romanians had the full rights of free movement.

The idea that undesirables won't be able to cross our border post Brexit is yet another Brexiteers fallacy

How do you filter them off from the far greater number of tourists coming in ? I mean actually at the point of entry.

If tourists overstay their welcome it is the same as in any country, they are liable to be caught and deported. After Brexit they will not have the legal right to remain.
