Would having a stepdaughter resident in Barcelona qualify me for dual nationality?![]()
She herself could get dual nationality - Spanish and Catalan (if it ever gets independence, but that is not likely on Rajoy's watch)

We're now starting to fly over troops to the Caribbean. I don't know how May can call this a swift response when we could and should have been doing this before the storm even hit like the French.
Errr............. The French too have been criticised for not acting quickly enough............I should also remind you the path of Irma changed several times.......Although granted I would have have liked the uk to have acted a bit quicker. A lot of our troops were actually on leave as this is the height of the leave period in the forces. I know of at least three lads that were called back. It all takes time................
Just send that useless lump of a Foreign Secretary and keep him there. He could be joined by Liam Fox, Royston Smith, Michael Gove and David Davis, and for good measure Dennis Skinner and Kate Hoey!! All unbelievably bad politicians who should be dropped out of an aeroplane over the Atlantic minus a parachute.

Oh dear.....I get the impression they are not your favourite people.......![]()
The fact it takes time is all the more reason to start earlier.Errr............. As an ardent supporter of the NHS I have been somewhat disappointed at the poor organisation, of my wife's treatment, this week.
She was due to have chemotherapy last week, Monday 4th, but this was cancelled owing to her blood counts not being good enough to withstand a new treatment.
No problem with this.
A new appointment was made for this week, Monday 11th, for chemotherapy followed by a blood transfusion.
We arrived early for a 9.30 appointment, to be told

Better to overprepare and only have to deal with minor damage than to underprepare, especially to the degree we did.
And if it takes time then thats even more reason to prepare so you can start earlier. The lads I know where all called back 3 days before Irma hit...........Also I forgot to mention a lass who was called back. She was in fact on her hols in Ibiza I gather. Apparently she only arrived the day before and got up the next morning to a message telling her to contact the MOD. It took her two days to return..........I know where she has gone although I don't know where the lads have gone. So it does take time.........
Does anyone like those that I have listed? Actually it is not so much their personalities, because they are all affable, Royston Smith apart. It is more to do with their policy they advocate
And if it takes time then thats even more reason to prepare so you can start earlier.
How long it takes to respond doesn't changes the governments obligations. It simply means they have to take steps to reduce that response time.
For example, off the top of my head, having annual excerises on the carribean during hurricane season rather than the med so your not redirecting troops from the other side of the ocean.
But realstically, simply having a few hundred in the uk on standby ready to respond to various issues like this would have surficed. (I'm surprised if we didn't)

Half my message disappeared?
Anyway, we arrived as said, to be told that the transfusion was cancelled and the chemotherapy fluids wouldn't be ready for another 2 hours!
We have arrived today for the blood, 09.00, blood not ready and still sitting here at 10.20, waiting to get started on a process that will last about 4 hours.
Probably human error but so disappointed that my wife is being treated like this.
Sorry to hear that St B. I hope she gets it sorted out soon.
Unfortunately this is no surprise to me as I have had relatives who have had all sorts of problems with the NHS over the years. I still think it's a great thing to have but it needs a major shake up in my opinion. The treatment can be very hit and miss. This has been the case for many years from what I've seen so it's not something you can blame on one political party. The NHS has become bigger and bigger with bits just added on without any proper thought of how it all joins together to give the best treatment to patients. It's a political hot potato so no one wants to sort it out, it just gets more money thrown at it. I'm sure the money is welcome but that won't sort out the organisation and management of the various departments.
I had got that from how you are talking with a resigned tone about how things are done instead of how things should be done.In truth I am talking from experience.............What you have to think about is that we have other commitments as well. We used to have a force in the air 24/7 but there is no longer a need for that. I too would have liked them to have responded earlier but I do understand how difficult it is to do that these days as well keep to our home defence. Not excluding our own problems that have occurred in the north of the UK.

The BBC report there are people in the Caibbean complaining Britain's response is to slow... factual reporting ... The BBC also shows clips of large planes being loaded with aid and troops heading towards the Caribbean and reports on those who are/were already in the region. Seems to me the slant is in your head.. you hear/see what you want he to hear and see.. perhaps we all do. But a little objectivity is worth a lot...Good post Beddy, each evening I wonder who the BBC (and sometimes others)seem to be preaching to with their distasteful slant on Britain at every opportunity.
