Like the op, I was watching the Gauntlet at work, so I'd say Clint is one of my favourite actors, Harrison Ford would be up there too. There's so many though, it's difficult to pick out any specific actors. Probably I'd watch a movie with Ford or Eastwood in them just because they're in it. Probably De Niro too.
Robert Donat. Olivier and peck in the boys from Brazil was fantastic acting. James woods. All the old school ones, De Niro etc Sly in Escape to Victory still up there...
Tim Roth is well over-rated imo. If I were to pick a recent British actor it would be someone like Paddy Considine or Stephen Graham. Out of the US actors I find Emma Stone incredibly captivating.
All great actors although I sometimes confuse "favourite actor" with "actor in my favourite films". But I'll toss Kevin Spacey and Malcolm McDowell into the mix as actors who are great in whatever they do.
Robin Williams Anthony Hopkins Jack Nicholson James Stewart Diego Costa Nicole Kidman Betty Davis Sue Johnston Judy Dench Rachel Wiesz (just coz she's sooo ****ing fit).
I always think John Lithgow is great whatever he's in. I also rate Cillian Murphy. Newer british actors I like James Norton.
I'm giving Tin Star a go purely because Tim Roth is in it. I like Stephen Graham but put Tom Hardy ahead of him as a recent British actor. From my generation I still look out for Phil Daniels & Timothy Spall.
I thought Tom Hardy was brilliant in The Take and he's done some good stuff since, but I've gone off him a bit recently, due to too many similar mumbling performances in some really quite mediocre films. Timothy Spall is excellent in pretty much everything he's ever been in.
Great choice especially Steve Carrell except for Jack Black for me, find him really annoying for some reason!
