No Tettey was one of the main reasons why we failed to counter attack quickly. He seems incapable of playing a forward pass unless there's no other option available.
We have plenty of attacking midfielders for that. Someone has to be able to tackle in there.
We aren't deploying a counter attacking game from what I've seen. We camp around their area with 70+ % possession, then concede. The opposition are the ones who seem to be playing a counter attacking game more often. No the point of the defensive midfielders when you deploy a counter attacking game is to win the ball and get it forward quickly to the striker / attacking midfielders.
That's pretty close to the mark FML and let's hope that DF and his staff have been working with the players to evolve some different tactics. We aren't deploying a counter attacking game from what I've seen. If he ain't good enough for bonny Scotland, he ain't good enough for the mighty NCFCI'd also like to see Martin relegated to the bench (or even omitted from the squad!!!)

Good post above GM. Whilst I agree that's he's no longer up to it and hasn't been for a while, the point remains that by singling out a scapegoat (there's at least one per season - Naismith seems to have slipped free of the vitriol so far this season) it has a negative affect on the entire team from front to back. Witness what the article says about Jacob Murphy and one stray pass last season - from local hero to local zero with one kick of a pig's bladder
If they boo Martin, they inadvertently boo (and weaken) the whole team and that's counterproductive however it's dressed up.
The $64,000 question!!!I agree that's why i stated I agreed that it is futile to boo the players, any of them. I think some one else remarked that you don't boo in the cinema if a film is rubbish, that would be silly even if you were of that booing mindset, no one but the projectionist is gonna hear you anyway.
But increasingly I think you do get people leaving the ground/cinema going on social media to critique the performances. The question is how damaging is that? Booing or critisizing the players during a game has to be bad and detrimental to perfomance, Booing at the end less so, but does it have a knock on effect to the next game or 7? Could that effect be positive or negative? Depends on players and the teams mind set. But how many of the players actually get and read direct abuse on social media? God help any of them silly enough to listen to canary call! But how aware is Russ for example of how few people now seemingly back him as a 1st XI player?
Bah!

Pure coincidence. Didn't even realise I had done it.Did you copy and paste that from the previous comment, perchance?![]()
But at least give him a chance then to prove you right or wrong. He can only play well in a game his played in. Tactics, performances and style was awful last season, I think everyone had to start a fresh this season. A lot of players who have played this season haven't proven last season a blip yet. Tetty hasn't had a league game to prove anything. Can't be much worse than what we've seen. But i acknowledged he had a good game but was referring to last year when most of the time he didn't. Just because hes had one good game this season sgainst lesser opposition doesn't mean he's up to the job this season amd he's certainly not up to playing every week.
I'd LOVE to see him at least given the opportunity on Saturday. But at least give him a chance then to prove you right or wrong. He can only play well in a game his played in. I think we would have a stronger core of Reed and Terry played together. Reed can run about tracking down like a terrier. Maybe pushing on a bit more at times. Tetty can sit, break up play and give it to a team mate.
Just my opinion.

And the Villa game. Those 2 looked lost before they stepped on the pitch. He needs time, but should he ever have picked that side vs Millwall? i think every onlooker could see it looked horribly wrong and had more than a hint of disaster about it.
Bah!

Thompson is out with injuries most of the time and Godfrey's out on loan. Who are our ball winning midfielders? No for me Tettey is the past and needs to move on. He's not up to the rigors of the championship, picks up too many injuries and cards and spent most of his playing time last season demonstrating why he isn't good enough for this level. I'm sure we would have moved him on if we could have got a decent offer during the summer. He would need to do much more than one half decent performance against a league 1 side to break back into the starting 11 for me. I really think some fans and posters on here need to get realistic. Just because a player that doesn't feature in the starting 11 has a good game for the U23 or against a lower league side in the cup doesn't mean they're up to a Championship league game.

That is vulgar! But has our midfield been up to the rigors of the championship without him? Arguably not. I actually think that Tettey would probably still be effective in his disruptive capacity. But he like the rest of the team is only going to be as strong as the team around him. I still can't see a collective defensive effort from 1-11 when we haven't got the ball, so like our much maligned defenders it is difficult for any player to have enough fingers for the dyke.
Bah!
