Agreed. League tables only show Played, Won, Drawn, Lost, Points etc. Not, ooh in that game we were unlucky and in that one the ref was ****.

But they do mask poor performances against teams that Chalk Lane 'A', Brighams or New Inn would have put away with ease were they still around.

Coz they're ****ing ****e and bore people to death.
There's never ever any zip to them.
It's the same game after game after game.
Ain't watched them since that shameful performance against Iceland.
Luckily we have the Germans to entertain us next summer.

People are too eager to slag off the England team but I have to say that was dogs mess.

Utter, utter bell cheese of a performance.

    It funked to high heaven.

    Pure babbage.

    Cack.

    Dogger.

    I could go on.

The last time we played Malta was in 1971. We still had a lot,of World Cup winning players in the team. Guess what we beat them 1-0.
But I'm sure it was a fantastic game with loads of action and etc etc things were so much better back then.

Come on mate, you can't tell me that was a decent performance?

It's like Groundhog Day with England, has been for years.

    Nothing changes, ever.

It's the same game after game. But you haven't watched them in over a year.

Sums up the attitude of the average England 'fan' these days.

Luckily, if City struggle this year we'll have Leeds to entertain us.

    Not since 1971?
If i wanted entertainment with my football I wouldn't be a city fan.
I'm English carmine. It's painful but I aren't deserting my team.

We played Malta in 2000. In a friendly. Scraped a 2-1 win. Had to rely on Emile Heskey coming off the bench to grab the winner in the last 15 minutes. Shearer, Beckham and Barmby all started. Mind, so did the Neville brothers and that poison dwarf Dennis Wise.

I have no memory of the game whatsoever.

Home and away we beat them 6-0, exactly the same as this time, the problem isn't the result, it's how poorly we played.

Rashford should surely start on Monday, and probably Welbeck - but Southgate seems very loyal to Sterling.

Southgate's currently trying to shoehorn too many Will-o'-the wisp players into the starting XI. England play well when we have a spine of steel, not a swarm of Fancy Dans buzzing, flicking and twisting like slippery eels on speed.

We just don't have enough players of top quality, regardless of the formation or style you prefer.

We have better players than those who are currently starting though, Rashford was MotM within fifteen minutes of coming on last night.

I've just seen someone on Twitter, saying England are the football equivalent of Toddington Services, largely unchanged since 1973. <laugh>

Joe Hart has never, ever been a top class keeper. It was ****ing ludicrous that at one stage people claimed he was the best in the world.

He was appalling last season and if it was based on form he wouldn't be anywhere near the squad.
