Breaking News!!!! And I AM ITK on this.

I've just left Liverpool and I can confirm that I have not seen VD there all day. I looked everywhere I went and even asked a few people. The customers I met were blue noses and they assured me he hasn't been seen at the City's top club today either.

I know that our little red friends will be reading this so I can confirm that on three occasions today, a big, black, sporty Range Rover pulled up along side me. The first two were heading towards the training ground but I couldn't make out the person in the back, however the one this afternoon was heading towards the airport. I clearly saw a little, annoying person in the back, which virtually guarantees it was Coutinho.

*honest la*

I completely believe you FLT. Always do. VVD is in London and wandering around hoping to be tapped up. It won't work.

Ive supported barca since I was like 6 and watch all their games. Compared to past and present defenders theyve had hes not up to the mark, evidently hes not crap to be playing at that level but in regards to what barca need hes not good enough. An ageing pique looks more inpressive than he does, he makes to many mistakes and just error prone. But its not just him , the whole squad isnt good enough this year, madrid are far superior in almost every position bar Messi and suarez. The bench is poor, dennis suarez not good enough, turan dosent want to be there, i could go on.. They got delofeau back in who lets face is was poor at everton and has no final ball and paulinho will not replace Iniesta, let alone fill the whole they still havent filled since xavi left.

He's 23 which is incredibly young for a CB, especially to be a regular at Barcelona. He'd also moved to a new country and a new league so needs time to adapt. From what I saw he was very solid and very composed - he's a fantastic signing for now & the future IMO.

All no doubt bought with the proceeds of the holiday sickness scam and the whiplash injury scam.

What? FLT has been scamming. Bloody hell that's a turn up.

Oddly, my son, who lives in Liverpool, drives a Range Rover of that description. He phoned the police yesterday to report being stalked by some "fat old git in a ****ty little motor". He told them that 3 times this bugger had pulled up along side him and was trying to peer through the privacy glass.

BTW, my son was ferrying some Dutch guy around so that he could have secret talks with some German geezer without being spotted.

Coincidences, eh?

I'd have been happier with "middle aged"

Summary of position re VVD from the Echo. Says that neither Les nor Ralph could swear Virgil wasn't leaving today....though unclear whether they actually said that or it is speculation by the reporter. I suppose it comes under the category of never say never...as you don't know what ridiculous offer may come in. I know Ralph was asked (at the time of his announcement a few weeks back) whether he could absolutely say that Virgil would play again for Southampton and he said then that he wouldn't make pronouncements on uncertainties....that comes under the category of once bitten, twice shy. No one can know for certain because he could be sold or stay and refuse to play.

I hope Les is hidden in a bunker and can only be reached if players want to sign for Southampton. This very annoying saga has been hanging over the whole club all summer....be nice to see it gone....until January [HASHTAG]#sigh[/HASHTAG].

Liverpool ITKs and friendly journos have been saying for days that a deal to sell has been done and the it is our Board that want it announced late in the day and that our journos have been on the case. Also that Walcott and Vietto will be announced as signings to sweeten it. If any of this is true, then what happens if Walcott and Vietto don't want to sign. Agree that Ralph has never said with 100% certaintly that vvd won't be sold and it seems that the Echo are preparing the ground for the sale of vvd to Liverpool. Will be disappointed if all this is true and the disclosure of bits of info is being orchestrated like this as it makes me think that fans are being taken for mugs.

I call bullshit on this.

Think it will be a quiet one tbh. Youre adamant Van Dijk isnt for sale and we are with Coutinho. Probably the best for everyone if they stay where they are

Finally nearing its conclusion is right (Daily Echo).........but you can look at that either way. The board have repeatedly said he is not for sale.........If they sold him this window they would be a laughing stock. It would be a huge slap in the face for us fans. For a long time now I have been advocating the board "say what they mean and mean what they say". For once they have a chance to do just that. They need to send the right signals to both players and fans if they are to progress...........

I agree...and I think the board will stick with their decision. However, money talks and big money talks loudest. It must be tempting to get shot of a problem in a compromise...i.e. anyone but Liverpool. And what can fans actually do....moan on social media? And it would all be forgotten if we have a good season. However, it makes no sense for the board to stay strong and then sell him late in the window, so I expect by tomorrow Saints will have moved onto the next problem....can VVD be integrated back into the team? Possibly, but the fans' hearts will be a bridge too far.
