Using transfer fees as a gauge of how much they've spent - and not taking into account signing on bonuses, wages, investment in the Academy, etc. is a pretty shallow way of doing it.

PLT was drawing conclusions about their level of profit based on the numbers posted, and I was pointing out that that was a shallow analysis of the numbers. There really was nothing more to it. As you say, it's a comment on our spending on transfer fees and nothing more.
