I would be very surprised if Mason plays again. The risk of permanent brain damage is too high...He should listen to that specialist. Stewarts injury may be worse than first thought, but Toral can fill that gap and Batty might be ready for a mid-field role if his performance today is any indication. Hughes certainly was very impressed.

I think the game's up for Ryan Mason; too much of a gamble. Find something else and leave football behind. All other injuries not a real concern, just unlucky timing.

Saw Stewart take a knock at the Nantes friendly game and looked uncomfortable thereafter but not sure which leg joint was injured, ankle or knee, but both can take time to fix, once diagnosed properly.

I did mine badly - worst my physio had ever seen - and six months later as I was getting back into football I re-injured it and was out for a further 8 months. They can be real bastards.

I know it's not a nice thing to ask but what sort of insurance if any will be against Mason?
Most sensibly run teams will take out insurance against something like this happening, now we're far from being a sensible team so it could be a moot point, but even if we do, I wonder where any pay out will be going??

Even with one specialist saying he shouldn't play is a worry. That's all it takes to be honest.

I agree. If I saw 3 specialists and 2 told me it was fine I'd listen to the other. It's his ****ing life.Get a media or coaching career if he wants to stay in football.

Can't help thinking this new signing is linked to Mason news, we've got a ****load of attacking midfielders otherwise.

I'm sure players have personal injury insurance of some description, nit sure about the club however. We've been bitten twice now, Bullard, and Mason. But as someone said Mason has his life and child to consider, the fact he has actually made attempts to be in a position to play speaks volumes..
