Even ignoring City's increases, Newcastle have spent a lot less than they used to.
That's because the previous owners left them with massive debts and an enormous wage bill.
I'm no fan of Ashley, the Chelsea twat, but he took over from reckless idiots.

Isn't being a reckless idiot what "competing financially" means to fans?

Always remember that Chelsea were weeks away from being such a basket case that Leeds fans could use the phrase "doing a Chelsea" before Roman showed up.

Chelsky are lucky that the early 80s are not now.

Otherwise they could be owned by some Spanner supporter
who decided on that day not to pay for his kid to attend
a home game.
