By the same polls the vast majority of those asked were deemed as fairly pessimistic or very pessimistic about the future of the EU. The public also said the Tories are the best political party to handle Brexit. Most of those polled want the Uk to leave, regardless of what happens. Most want us not to pay a ransom or no more than 10bn.

Cmon.. .what people want is nothing to do with the reality of the situation.....

emotive tabloid terms that you use here like ransom really do little to educate people.... and yet people vote with such influences informing their decisions....

The reality is we are committed all over the shop in just about every sector...You cannot expect us to walk away scot -free.....

Another inaccuracy....

Wait until parliament resumes and see which political party is sitting on the government benches, you might see a few familiar faces. They have been there a long time and are set to continue for another five years.

The Conservatives are the chosen ones.

Amazing how the so called (at least by SH) 'natural party of government' should throw away their first majority since 1997, needlessly after only 2 years - and end up having to be propped up by Orange religious nutters.

The major problem for the Tories was May thinking the electorate were ready for a sensible debate on pensioner benefits and long term care. It seems they were not.

What was abundantly clear at the election, the electorate totally shunned the whinging anti Brexit parties, they lost vote share. The Scottish voters also gave the SNP a thumping to remind Sturgeon they do not want independence. Thankfully the odious Salmond was turfed out on his ear. - hopefully lesson learnt.

Maybe the major problem for the Tories was Cameron thinking the electorate were ready for a sensible debate on whether to stay in the EU. or not. Again, it seems they were not.

The UK waited a long time for the referendum, thankfully they got it right first time.

I am beginning to wonder if after her programming went wrong during the election she has been told to keep her head down and out of sight. Holiday suddenly extended, and since she has returned nothing of any note. From leading the nation into a fabulous future, she now seems to be following her ministers. Has she been told that her sell by date is coming to an end?

Really not the basis for any meaningful dialogue
