Was refereeing today so thankfully was spared the emotional roller coaster. Very good win and a very welcome one. Would have taken 4 points from the first 2 matches before the season started so I'm very satisfied.

This blogger has Davis as MOTM....bearing in mind the discussion in this thread, just shows how people see different things. I always bear in mind that managers and players like Davis....so assume he must be worth his place.

I thought he was crab-like in the Ray Wilkins sense.

He played fine, but just doesn't quite have the nous to see what's transpiring ahead of him enough to play that role (in my opinion).

I'm not sure the performance was worse than Swansea. The opposition was much stronger. Whereas we played the Swans at the wrong time (their heads will drop with many more performances like last week) we played WHU at the right time (they will get better as season goes on). Couple of good saves from Forster (who needs to make sure his parries go out of play) and good performances from Stephens and Yosh BUT - the five in the defensive unit lack a leader. Hoedt or VVD may fill the void (hopefully both) and then we will be a contender for higher finish than last season.

Yes it does - Very surprised to see Davis as MOTM ! What I saw was some over hit / wayward passes and I thought generally slowed play down when we needed to be playing at a far higher tempo. As for his shooting....couldn't hit a cow's arse with a musket! ( But then again I've never really liked him so I'm biased)

As far as I'm concerned VD can rot for the remainder of his contract and leave on a free in 5 years. He can still train at staplewood but the caterers will spit in his food.

I think he did. For me he almost always picked the right pass, executed it well, got in the right positions, brought others into play.

The only thing he lacks is a shot

Disagree. We really missed him today. If we can get him playing again, why cut off our nose to spite our face?

Sorry I'm late, took a while to wade through the wet linen.... :)

Two games in. Unbeaten.
New manager.
New signing.
New incoming signing.

I know I keep saying it and I know it pisses people off, but some people have such huge expectations and seem to expect a faultless display from players in a sport where the opposition are trying to do their plan. Amazes me every time.

I'm grateful we've won. Looking forward to MP2 having some time with the players and seeing what he does over the next 6-8 games.

We march on.

Hmm.....not sure Manolo would agree. Mind you, MG actually had a go at Oriol about missing obvious passes to his runs. Rather him than me!

Fans do form opinions about various players....if unfavourable, they cannot do right; if they are a hero, they will be forgiven everything. And mistakes get amplified if you are looking for them.

This is also very true!
