You can talk me into the idea we need a CM, but not that we don't need another AM. The key to the season will be goals, I think. One more top class AM and we'd have all of them jostling for playing time instead of dragging through two games a week stretches. I hope. Someone in any way resembling Eriksen would be an extra plus.

I agree. As much as I rate Eriksen, he needs some competition as he can go missing at times and imo he sometimes gets complacent.

I've been trying to find out what Draxler's salary is. I've only found one site with a list of PSG players, so this could be wrong, but it says €100,000 a week.

If he's available for £30 ish million, and bearing in mind Sissoko earns a supposed £95k a week, surely this is someone we should be turning our attention to?
We could recoup a chunk of the funds by selling Sissoko, and still have money available from the walker sale alone. Would give us another great option in attack.

Who decides whether transfer fee 'add-on's' are reported within the headline fee, stated as an additional sum or not referred to at all?

In a world of deals whose values are 'Undisclosed', it's not the most important of topics but there does seem to be something to it. Take the Kyle Walker deal. I've read that the deal is £45m in cash this summer. Added to that is a further £5m next summer and a further £4m dependent upon appearances and achievements during his time there. In the majority of press reports? It's £45m. Just £45m. Most don't bother with the delayed £5m, let alone the possible £4m.

By contrast, Davidson Sanchez is costing us £42m. Not £27m plus potential add-on's as is actually the case. The same thing happened with Soldado and Lamela. Their 'up-front' fees were nowhere near what was reported and in Soldado's case there is very little danger that he hit any performance indicators requiring further payment.

So how come those fees are the accepted truth when Manchester United are contractually committed to paying Mino Payola £19m over the length of Pogba's 5 year contract and that doesn't warrant a single mention. It's not conditional upon anything. Pogba stays at United they give Payola £3.5m a year guaranteed. It's never mentioned. Pogba's transfer figure is £19m more than anyone is reporting. Why is that?

In the UK ??
The media hacks who are lovers/haters of particular clubs.

I pay no attention to it regarding Spurs, as the bottom line is
that Levy manages the bottom line very well on transfer fee T+Cs.
That ensures that many of the eventual failures have their transfer
cost spread out in a manageable manner.

And he is still only 23 yrs old.
This one must be worth a punt if his current wage info is correct.

£133k p/w according to FM17.

Similar to what CK said, centre mid is the priority for me. We need someone to compete and cover Mousa adequately. Winksy is great but he's a completely different style of player and in the manner in which we play, we need someone to break forward, take people on and hold up the ball when needed when Mousa isn't playing. Seri was my ideal choice but I do feel Barkley could be moulded to the role under Poch's guidance. Failing that, if this Diop lad is the guy Poch believes in then I'll completely trust his judgement.

Seeing as Wimmer is likely going, a CB is also a priority and if we do indeed sign Sanchez, it's a mouth-watering signing. From someone who takes an interest in Ajax matches, this lad is the dogs' bollocks. Still has miles of room for improvement but at 21 he's already better than 75% of CBs in Europe's top leagues. His physical and athletic attributes somewhat make him a new breed of CB.

I've stated time and time again that RWB is for me OK with just Tripps and KWP, hopefully KWP eased some of the fears of those worried that Tripps hasn't got adequate cover/ competition on Sunday but if we end up signing Aurier (minus the personality traits), then we've bagged ourselves one of the best FBs in Europe for less than half the price of what we sold Walker for and he's three years younger than the £50m man.

As for LWB, I personally feel Rose has burned his bridges but if Poch feels the team hasn't been affected and there's no rift between Danny and the players/ staff then so be it, he stays. If we sell him, I'd like us to go for Sessegnon and have him compete with Davies for a couple of seasons before making the role his own. Failing that, a deal of Shaw plus cash from Utd would also suffice.

Attacking mid we're well stocked in. Alli and Eriksen are two of the best in Europe and if Son has another year like last then he'll be considered as such, too. With Lamela on the mend, plus the likes of GK and Sissoko in reserve, we're solid. Not to mention the incredible talent of Edwards and the pre-season breakout star, Anthony Georgiou, who's done his chances of potential first team minutes no harm whatsoever.

Striker situation is tricky. I'm happy to give Janssen another year but if we can line up a top second choice and recoup a good chunk of what we spent on the Dutchman then I'd take that.
Winksy? <laugh>

While I'd love to have Drexler, I'm even more impressed with Keita Balde--based on the iffy recipe of one part WhoScored rating to one part highlights reel. He seems to have it all, especially strength on the ball. He could be one thing we don't have among our attackers: a player whose size and speed frighten defenders.

I'd be shocked if we got either one, to tell you the truth. Then again, I'm shocked we ever get anybody.

Ffs. Knew it was too good to be true.

Always a possible VDV scenario (it depends on who else is interested) .

With the UEFA FFP stuff, Neymar is burning a big hole in the PSG cash
and having Draxler remain on those wages is no real help to them.

Wilfried Zaha, the footballer who spends more time sitting on the grass pretending to have been fouled than any other footballer, anywhere, at any time in history, has a 'knee injury'. It's one of those injuries that lasts about 2 weeks at the end of August and flares up again as the calendar moves towards February........just in case.

Please not us! Not him! Not even as a straight swap for Sissoko.

Yeah, but we'll get gazumped by the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool on wages if he really is available for transfer. Both those clubs are known to be keen on him.

Are u kidding? I'm not exactly Zaha's biggest fan, but I'd have him here over Sissoko all day long.

No chance of getting Draxler.

He's a fantastic player on good wages and even though he may not have a PSG future, I doubt he'd swap their bench for ours. As good as he is, he's not better than Alli or Eriksen and arguably Son, too. Way too good and pricey for us to bring in as a likely squad player.
