If the rumours are to be believed, the prices being quoted for Martial (£50m+) just serve to demonstrate the madness of PL-to-PL sales. The player cost £36m, and has shaved 2 years off of his contract without producing anything of note. Saying 'well he's clearly got talent' is irrelevant as David Bentley was clearly very talented at a great many things but only showed 1% of them 1% of them time, hence he rapidly became useless. If it's a straight choice between £30m on Barkley or Martial, then perhaps I'd go for the Frenchman as he would at least at a completely different dimension to our attacking options. But any more than that on either of them and it's a 'no' from me.
As for Sessegnon, I can't see this happening. Not now that he's signed a senior contract at the club. The time to move for him was earlier in the summer, and perhaps we would've done if only our beloved DOF had the decency to be more generous with the timing of his comments. At a stretch, perhaps we can pull off a buy-and-loan-back deal, which is what most of us would want anyway. My cousins are season ticket holders at the Cottage, and from what they tell me the player is extremely humble, down-to-earth and well advised by close family members who have been there, done it and got the t-shirt (particularly his older cousin, Stephane).
I get nervous when we hear about a couple of deals in the pipeline (Diop, Sanchez) and then suddenly within a few days of this there is a tidal wave of players we're "interested" in. It usually means that the talks for the original players are collapsing and we need to be distracted with fairytales.
