I misread it as being about Sanchez, for some reason. Aurier may well have agreed terms, but it's been suggested that he has with about half the teams in the league recently. Doesn't matter if nobody has agreed them with PSG and that doesn't seem to be the case. Not sure about signing him anyway, to be honest. Talented but potential trouble. Our squad has done very well by being unified and he could damage that. It's one of the reasons that I want Rose out.
Martial is at the wrong club with most definitely the wrong manager. The pressure at Utd for young players to succeed pretty much instantly is insane, despite a few faltered seasons, Utd are still by far the biggest club in England and that pressure can be too much for some. Rashford is obviously someone relishing in it but for every Rashford there's a Martial or Shaw and about 50 Macheda's. FWIW I highly doubt we'll sign him, not only would he cost a bomb but Utd would be mad sending an extreme talent to work with Poch.
Martial ain't gonna happen. Sessegnon coming doesn't necessarily mean Rose goes in this window. I think Davies can cover Wimmer if he goes. Ryan and Danny can share LB duties. I doubt that'll happen either though.
Yeah we've heard that. Apparently he's also agreed terms with a number of clubs and is waiting for the outcome of some court case to determine what happens next. I am not celebrating yet.
More like half-plagiarized it because I'd more or less forgotten your comment. But after all, you did make it eons ago.
Never going to happen, not with his questionable attitude. Just the hacks making stuff up because we're (possibly) in the market for a right-back. I'd leave this position until the end of the transfer window and see how KWP pans out.
If the rumours are to be believed, the prices being quoted for Martial (£50m+) just serve to demonstrate the madness of PL-to-PL sales. The player cost £36m, and has shaved 2 years off of his contract without producing anything of note. Saying 'well he's clearly got talent' is irrelevant as David Bentley was clearly very talented at a great many things but only showed 1% of them 1% of them time, hence he rapidly became useless. If it's a straight choice between £30m on Barkley or Martial, then perhaps I'd go for the Frenchman as he would at least at a completely different dimension to our attacking options. But any more than that on either of them and it's a 'no' from me. As for Sessegnon, I can't see this happening. Not now that he's signed a senior contract at the club. The time to move for him was earlier in the summer, and perhaps we would've done if only our beloved DOF had the decency to be more generous with the timing of his comments. At a stretch, perhaps we can pull off a buy-and-loan-back deal, which is what most of us would want anyway. My cousins are season ticket holders at the Cottage, and from what they tell me the player is extremely humble, down-to-earth and well advised by close family members who have been there, done it and got the t-shirt (particularly his older cousin, Stephane). I get nervous when we hear about a couple of deals in the pipeline (Diop, Sanchez) and then suddenly within a few days of this there is a tidal wave of players we're "interested" in. It usually means that the talks for the original players are collapsing and we need to be distracted with fairytales.
I find the timing of these rumours quite convenient for Levy and the club. Wouldn't surprise me if it's just to appease the fans after the Rose interview and in reality we're no closer to signing anyone than we were 2-3 weeks ago.
Doing my best @Roo impersonation here, but... Fulham have reportedly agreed terms with two LB's; Cardiff's Joe Bennet and Bordeaux's Maxime Poundje. Granted, they sold Scott Malone to Huddersfield the other week, but why buy two LB's if you've only sold one??? QED...
Sessegnon looks quite likely to do a Bale though, plus he's very versatile. I could see him playing fullback, wing-back or either wing and he threatens from every position. Fulham might be looking to push him up the pitch this season.
Yes. This one will have a domino effect. Barkley to us or Chelsea, Chadli to Swansea, Sissoko to WBA (he pleads).
It's strange, there's conflicting arguments re Sessegnon amongst the journalists at the moment. Some are saying no bid from us, others are saying there has been. And the ones saying there hasn't been are the usual ones that are normally quite negative about our transfer dealings, but aren't necessarily correct all that often (Lyall Thomas to name 1). The ones that are saying there is a bid, haven't exactly proven to be reliable either, but at the same time don't have a reputation for spouting bullshit. One guy is adamant that his source within Fulham has fed him reliable information. Truth be told, I think the Danny Rose situation is going to about to get a whole lot worse and he'll be gone by the end of the window. - it's funny how these reports of new potential Fulham LB's have come about. It's all looking like pieces of a puzzle to me at the moment, and soon it's all going to fit together.
It pisses me off how quickly other clubs go from the stage of "in talks" to "announcement made". Barry was what?... literally a matter of hours? It literally takes us ****ing weeks and weeks.
