http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-40837058 Stadium deal is close. Fat lot of good an expansion will do us if we get relegated because if a lack of investment in the starting 11.
but the money grabbers will still be able to make money off it. The side and the club will be ****ed, but the Yanks can walk away with a pretty profit and the club will be easier to sell owning the ground. The yanks don't give 2 ****s for this club, they are here to line their pockets and nothing else.
The BBC article Valley referred to talks about a 30 year lease, which doesn't imply ownership. The Yanks are business men first, and last. They purchased the Club to make a profit. Being part of a very elite League, made Swansea City an attractive purchase. If they eventually decide to cash in their chips, who is to blame them. It's called business.
As Vetch says, it is not an outright purchase of the stadium. Ownership will remain with the Council. The Swans will become the "Primary" leaseholder for the remaining term of the existing 50 years lease - c36 years. - so long as the Ospreys agree.
TLF - I agree with what you've written apart from the fact they won't own the stadium, but will "control" it for 30+ years. That will be an "asset" when the time comes to make their profit....
Taff they are all ready making a profit and I get what Vetch said and I agree they are business men and are completely entitled to do what they want with the club as is their right. What pisses me is that it was sold to them in the first place and all the bull **** that was spouted about investment and moving the club forward blah blah blah. Their first season in charge we avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth, this transfer window has beenso far a disaster with the club in the black on in comings and out goings. I wonder when they are finally going to put that investment in to the club, like they said they would.
I feel your frustration, trunds, but it is what it is. Bearing in mind that the new owners are just that - new owners - and are still wet behind the ears in football Club ownership, in the U.K anyway. £15 million has already been wasted on Baston, so I would expect them to be a tad cautious with regards new signings. Any promises they made at the time of purchase would only have some merit if they were included in the purchase agreement. People often say/promise things to gain an advantage. More often than not those promises are forgotten. That's life. Who knows they may surprise us yet. The transfer window is open until 31st. of the month.
Huw et al were explaining that the rationale for the sale was outside investment to help take the Club forward. So far, the only 'net' investment has been to the selling shareholders - and I hear that part of the money they received was dependent on retaining PL status. No wonder some of those guys were looking worried for much of last season...... Vetch - Whilst they got their fingers burned with Baston, don't forget that the sale of Ash & Ayew more than funded that.
They probably only looked at the outgoing £15 million. The incoming being a back pocket bonus. Cynic, or what ?
I agree with you and although they said, they don't have to deliver and as yet they haven't. I will not put a penny in the club now until they are gone, which I suspect wont be that long. I know my money means nothing, but it makes me feel a little better. I will support my club now from afar and if I have the time go to a few away games.
The Club has been around for over a hundred years, and will be here long after they have taken their profit. They are not die hard supporters of the Club, and can therefore be dispassionate and detached about it all. It's all about money as far as they are concerned. No standing in the rain on the North Bank for them.
Could get interesting if the Trust vote result calls for the Trust to take legal action. Their silence has been deafening too during this Gylfi fiasco and a seemingly lack of money in the clubs coffers as it were.
https://www.swanseacity.com/news/clement-i-wont-talk-signings-until-sigurdsson-sorted Absolute joke. Everton have a gun to our head. Our plans are on hold and it's going to result in Utd thumping us next week if today wasn't a one off.
