We actually spend close to 50% of our revenue which is a lot lower than other clubs. Still, it's going to be very expensive once we raise our wage cap, which we will have to do over the next year.
The higher the wage %age the more precarious the position you're in is. Newcastle, Sunderland, Villa and QPR all had high wage:revenue rates and when they bought badly it cost them their PL status. We can absorb the odd Adebayor, Sissoko, Soldado expensive mistake because ours is better. It's only clubs with bottomless pits of money that can afford to spend and have bad seasons, for everyone else it's like a rolling stone, picking up pace and getting worse and worse.
When we raise our wage bill we need to make sure it's not reliant on CL money or anyother performance related income otherwise we're going to need to sell and suffer if we ever do miss targets.
