How much do you reckon Burnsy gets paid? Or Swanny for that matter.. I'm doing a quick 1 year course in sports journalism and it's just occurred to me, rather than write for a paper or website, why not try and replace one of those twats? (Eventually)
Wish somebody would replace them thats for sure. Burns also does the morning show on Blunderside which i had the misfortune to hear the other day, all he seems to talk about are the pubs he goes in down Newland Av and his social life, as if anybody cares what the twocker gets up to off-air.
Dont know what has happened with burnsy but over the last few seasons his reporting of city falls way short.I remember when him and Alex burgess made a good team with Alex been the info and stat man and burnsy being burnsy funny and positive. Now its swanny who should be the info and stat man but just does not give a **** he turns up with no notes and then jokes about it while talking of his night out before the game eg best pub.curry house.local slappers. Now i think we have lost coverage from KCFM.
I have no memory of Burnsy ever being particularly entertaining or interesting, but then again over the 7 years I've been going I've probably only listened about twenty times. The salary was a serious question, by the way.
NO CHANCE. You need more about you than a simple course in journalism. Yes its a start but just that. They do a good job. The idiots who ring there show prove what idiots some are. They are a good souble act.
If you notice, I put 'Eventually' in brackets. I have enough about me to realise that I can't jump from a one-year course straight into Blunderside's first choice commentary team.
they are on the lucrative BBC gravy train so i am sure they will be well paid at unrealistic non-competitive levels for this area. Swanny will be on the 'large brown envelope option' with lots of inherent perks such as mileage, overnight stay enhancements, etc. David Burns BA (Hons) will be on a protective salary based on his previous Sports Editor grade, which he would never get in the private sector by comparison. Fact is, if it wasnt for Auntie, neither of them would be in such self induced high profile roles locally.
So Swanny has a journalism qualification? Give the lad some support, you just sound jealous, what happened you couldnt get into journalism or something.
Burns is OK, the rest are a disgrace, that includes, Mike White, Matt Dean and the worst of all Gwillam ****ing Lloyd! Swanny should not be working on City, the guy is a Leeds fans and only got involved at Humberside when we were nearing promotion.
Did anyone hear Gwilym Lloyd interviewing the Grimsby manager after Tuesday nights game? It was painful to listen too, the bloke had just seen his team lose 5-0 away at Braintree and he opened with 'what do you take from tonight's game?' Erm...**** all Gwilym.
Thats so bad its fukin great. I hope someone like Dared to Dream does get an opportunity one day or your lad. It would be nice to have a real fan of the team working there.
To be honest, after Burnsy there is nobody else. Pity Alex Burgess wont go back there. Matt Dean is awful and Mike White prefers office work by the sounds of. You may have a chance in a few years.
Swanny has the insight as an ex.pro footballer. Even a dummy like you should know that chazz. as for jealous ? ive no interest in that area at all. I wish him success and good luck if thats what he wants.
Thought that was Jon Tonder @ Braintree OLM ? G was doing Alan Knill @ Scunny or did he do both interviews ? Or was my car radio on the blink ?
"Swanny has the insight" you have actually said sometihng funny on this board. Without knowing it obviously. You could never be a journalist. Capital letters to emphasise weak points, piss poor spelling. No sense of irony have you tickler.
Actually, come to think of it, you're right, it was Knill talking to him about their 2-1 loss to Oldham, but it was still a dopey opener.
Dared to Dream I've just sent you a PM with all the answers to the above and some extra info that might be useful! Cheers
Burnsy is good, the rest, as mentioned above, are pretty rubbish. Talking of numpties phoning into Humberside, there was one after the Leeds game who was possibly the most embarrassing City fan out there. He kept gooing on about how we're such a tin pot club and we'll never be as big as the massive Leeds Utd. You'd have thought from what he was saying that we were the recently promoted team and they were a side with recent prem experience
