Am I missing something with the Jerome loving? We have been lucky for him to have his two best seasons during our last two championship seasons scoring 37 in 86 games......that's not a bad return but considering we would have been highest scorers in both of those season its hardly setting the world a light. I'd also assume he's a reasonably big earner as a senior member of the squad so being offered £6m (if true) would be an offer we cant refuse in my eyes. he's going to be a very expensive bench warmer this season if Nelson stays fit! Maybe I just find it difficult to look past the amount of sitters he misses each season...... including the last relegation season......
That's largely how I judge him too. Can't knock his endeavour, running and work rate but when there's only sporadic efforts on target (far more missed than testing the keeper) I can't help wondering if we ought to look to freshen up that end of the pitch a little too. Would rather he wasn't sold to a direct rival though. Plus it jars me off big time when people call him Cam-Jam - there's no 'a' in Jerome, ffs
I thought responses to my comment would be negative but glad someone agrees Looking at his career goal scoring record its amazing we've managed to get a couple of decent seasons out of him even in the championship!
The key word there being "if" - it's a long season and there is no guarantee that Basil will stay fit or that he won't get a red mist attack again (as at Rotherham) and get himself suspended. Jerome, despite the missed sitters, is proven at this level and will get goals for us. £6m (if true) is a tempting offer but who would we buy to guarantee the same output as Jerome ?
Yup Dave? Is this a *****lian message board? A Yup is a lean to on a Yurt that is home for a Yak. Yonestly.
I get tired of yes or yeah so like to add a bit of variety, after all, it is the spice of life you know!?
I've NEVER been a CJ fan, due to the number of times he fails to test the keeper, though we do need backup for Basil. He was hauled down by the Rotherham defender and should have had a penalty!!!!!!!! I've seen several worse infringements go COMPLETELY unpunished.
Yup (nod to Dave here) - should have had a penalty - didn't get it - got himself sent off - we lost the game.
Indeed. Singlehandedly responsible for not going up. Nothing to do with ignoring Pritchard and persevering with waste-o-money Naismith week after week after effin' week
The other thing about Jerome is he rarely get injured. IF we sell Jerome to a competitor we will regret it. I don't know what Oliveira has done to deserve all the faith some are putting in him, but it wouldn't surprise me if Jerome finishes the season above him in the scoring tables.
A bit long winded but makes some valid points about Jacob / the footballing lifestyle. Football is business and footballers are employees. They do not have the same emotional attachment to a club that fans do and the financial incentives are enormous throughout the sport. So, if you called Jacob a "snake" don`t try and kid the rest of us that you wouldn`t have done exactly the same if in his position, especially when your current club have told you "we`ve accepted an offer for you." Have a word with yourselves… Read more: http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=497999#ixzz4nO2qscjY
Oh God, let's all get depressed, Benny Ashley-Seal has gone to Chelsea on trial! He's not in our manager's plans, let Chelsea send him out on loan to some League two club! <sob-sob>
