Interesting stuff, cheers ImpsSaint! Whenever I have seen him I suppose it's just highlights with him always seeming to score so I have a do have a blinkered view of him!
I know Rotheram want quite a bit for him but it kind of says it all that he hasn't been bought by a Championship club yet.
don't get me wrong. Le Fondre shines at that level. just doesn't give you that sense of being above his station. Grimes cam in on loan from Millwall and turned the imps from relegation fodder into an unbeaten team for a while. Returned to relegation fodder though. Guess the imps dragged him down to their level Should add I've only seen Le Fondre 4 times playing Lincoln Saw Grimes a fair amount more but £18 for L2 is a push for me even with no travelling.
I could be way off but were Southend once a champ team and was Barnard playing and perhaps scoring for them???
Just to give a guide of my scouting credentials, didn't think much of Gary Taylor-Fletcher when he was here but he looked pretty decent last year in the prem for Blackpool. Maybe Le Fondre is the same
You are right mate, but I have a feeling Barny was with them in League 1 - he must have missed out by a year or possibly 2? I suppose you could say the highest level he has played is with Spurs - his prem debut being against Man United!! But that was 5/6 years ago and since then I think league 1 is the highest level he has played at. Please, someone correct me if i'm wrong as I would love the Barnyard to have put a few away at champ level!
There are a few around ImpsSaint, if only this were Football Manager where you can sign all these players and give them a crack without serious repercussions! Will Buckley is another who looks to be a goodun at champ level with Watford/Brighton after only playing for Rochdale before.
Me too mate, however I feel The Knight is equal to him! Pretty similar players when you think about it, pacey and can play up front or wing - think Buckers may be a bit bigger/physical though, but De Ridder be more tricky!!
It's a battle of wills, I see Saints being very active toward deadline day, players in and out. If reports are correct I can't see Burnley being able to resist a bid of £4 million for Jay Rod especially if Hines follows Ings into the squad. You can't blame them for holding firm knowing our finances but they'll start twitching as the 31 gets closer. Same for any bids on Puncheon, expect us to accept the best offer on the table.
Fourth Official on Twitter saying that Leicester and Coventry are seriously tracking Adam le Fondre...
That's cool, nifty player but I'd not be disappointed if we didn't sign him. Rather splash out on J-Rod, but I'm a sucker for big signings.
I still think spending upwards of £4/5m on a player at this level is just ridiculous, hence why I don't mind if we were to pick up a player from the lower leagues, like a le Fondre or a Baldock...
Well it is in the way that someone like Danny Graham, who was very prolific last season, went for £3.5m to a Prem club. Though, Rodriguez is younger and more rounded as a player, but it's still an awful lot for a second division player. Baldock I would prefer to see us sign but to be honest if we are looking at promotion in the next few years I don't know whether we can really bank on someone who has only ever played in League Two. But then I'll let the scouts and management do what they are paid to do and if we happen to sign him I will support it fully.
Burnley may be even more reluctant to let Jay Rod go again as Danny Ings did his knee on his first day of training and is out for at least 5 months.
http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/deal-close-for-qpr-defender/ Looks like this may start to move this week - I guess it may depend on if another Prem team come in for him. Question is do we really want a player that is not busting a gut to sign for us - unless this has been slowed down due to QPR's takeover?
I hadn't heard that, terrible news for Burnley and definitely makes it less likely he'll join us. Maybe in January when Ings is all better, and we know how badly we need another striker.
Jay Rod if we had to buy anyone. However we don't... Lambert and Connolly are doing fine at the moment. Lee Barnard will be returning hopefully in the next couple of weeks and should one of those three get injured we have Guly who can also do a job as a striker. Meaning that we just bring in one of our many wingers into the squad... One CB and that'll do I should think
