We have just signed a Centre midfield player, so is he not good enough then plus what we already have we have as much cover there as you claim we have at CB and a bit more quality.. I still believe we 100% need another CB because whilst I like some of them, I don't think overall they are good enough and would like to sign a starter and lose VDH.

I thought and watching him play last night I am sure Mesa was a central defensive midfielder I meant an attacking central midfielder someone to play more in front of Carroll and Mesa.
Get what you are saying mate and if Siggy does go we have to. Where I am going at CB is we conceded more goals last season than in any other and despite improvements towards the end of the season, we are going into next season with a swap between Amat and Bartley, now I know Bartley had a good season last season, but has looked poor when played in the PL before. Now he ay well turn out to be great, but marking Zohore from cardiff , it is different marking Say Lukaku or Sanchez. What I want is a new starting Centre half and use the best alongside him. If we concede like we did last season again next season then we are in a relegation battle again.
I'm not the biggest fan of YouTube clips etc but bloody hell he looks a very classy player.

Watching Barkley last night whilst he was ok one fairly wild tackle shows he still has that in his locker. I think we will have to rely on Clement's judgement on that. As for VDH I can't make my mind up. Sometimes he looks ok, he can control and pass the ball but I have doubts about his game judgement. I think the US tour will make Clement's mind up about this position and we still have time to sign someone.

For VDH is an average Championship player, I am happy to have the other 3, just want another one in there who would improve the starting 11.
Bartley had a presence about him last night, and he does like to get into the penalty area, and steal the odd goal, which he did for Leeds last season, if my memory holds good. Fingers crossed that he will prove more successful this time around.

I think both Bartley and VDH are better than Fernandez Nos, so another CB might be a luxury we can't afford if we are to buy another RB, Striker, maybe winger and an AM to plug the hole up front when Siggy eventually goes.
I don't think Bartley or VDH have played in a world cup final and never will.. I think we're going to have to accept we disagree on this one.
If we don't strengthen then we will be in trouble next season. Bartley has failed in the PL, yes a good season in the Championship, means nothing as the standard is chalk and cheese, he may well have a great season, VDH is simply Gash and obviously last season PC saw Fernandez and Mawson as his best 2 CB. I don't see having 4 CB capable of playing the Pl and pushing for first team as a luxury I see it as a necessity if we want to stay up. I agree with the RB, that is a must, but if you cant keep clean sheets it is very difficult to win games and I just don't think we have the cover to ensure we are solid in the middle. But you may be right and PC may think that we have enough there. Just my personal opinion is over all we are very weak at CB.

Maybe another CB then but who. Unlike any other position a good CB tends to grow into hos position over time. They rarely just show up and fit straight in, Mawson being an obvious exception. Whoever we get wont just fit straight in anyway, so I'd personally give Bartley a go.
I know Nos and others will will disagree, but I think Bartley is a better option than Fernandez so our defence will organically improve with him replacing Fernadez.
