It's gone quiet since we issued a "tapping up" warning.

The press have completely reversed their tone or shut up completely about Sigrdsson since we told Everton to shut up and fekk off. He's hardly getting any press coverage and if he is the headlines are negative for him,

"Everton would be making an expensive mistake signing this PL star" The Transfer Tavern,
a direct attack on his valuation
"Swansea owners 'will not be bullied' ... The Telegraph,
a direct attack on Siggy who must have known he was beong tapped up and went along with it by not going on tour.
"Swansea cannot afford to lose Gylfi Sigurdsson" Its round and white weblog
going against what Siggy wants which is to leave.

Before it was all about Siggys Golden Balls, now the press are turning on him and will attack his ability and value through comparison. We're going to read more about Rooney, how great a free kick taker he is, how cool he is from the penalty spot, what a great dead ball specialist he is. We're going to get a lot of 'remember when' stories about Rooney and Sigurdsson will be measures and compaired against Rooneys' ghost and we'll be reminded that Rooney only cost £30m.

Then we'll get how technically skilful and better dribbling the ball than the clumsy Sigurdsson Ross Barkley is. Well be reminded that Barkley is so much younger than Sigurdsson and his true value is £50, Sigurdsson is 28 so how much is he really worth. etc etc.

Siggys talents and his value will be targeted and measured against those players Everton already have and in time they will be diminished against them. Over the coming weeks Siggys talent will decrease and his value will get less and less, in the press that is. He's going to be hit so hard by all this ****e that even he'll start believing it.

In a couple of weeks, maybe more, Everton will come back to us with a low blow offer of around £28-35m and a take it or leave it attitude. Everton will be expect us to bite their hand off and take their generous offer as they'll know that their paprazzi has attacked Siggys value, talent in the media and eroding his confidence. If we don't take it they'll think we'll be left with a very unhappy payer because he wanted the deal to go through or, a very unhappy player whose been stung by the constant and venomous attack from the media who set out to devalue and destabilize him.

If we cant get Siggy back in training before I think he'll have reached a point of no return and will be infective for us regardless until he reclaims his fitness and sanity. Either way we'll have lost our talisman.

I hope were still in a position though to tell them to fekk off again, that would make all this crap bearable if we could do that.

Siggy has a choice to either go along with this and hope we sell him when Everton come leaching back, or he can bite the bullet and get himself off to the states and back in the team because if this drags on for a month or so he could find himself lost in no mans' unfit and not fit for purpose.

Regardless we should buy Nacer Chadli I say and buy him now before Everton start sniffing around. We have to let Siggy land where he falls, wherever that will be is up to him now, not us or Everton, its all about what he decides to do right now.

I think we (after reading plaudits for several players) need players who are consistently solid. Let us all face facts, no one will have a blinder every week as every fan wants their players to have. I look at players like Dyer, Routledge, Fer, Montero, Barrow who play very well 1 in 10, rest of the time they turn up just to be seen I think. Not just our problem I might add however I would rather a lad who actually tries and gives 100% regardless of ability than a prima donna who gives 10% 90% of the time then has a blinder. No matter who the keeper is, he will make a mistake from time to time, same as defenders et al. If I had the answer I would be a manager, bit like choosing a fantasy football side (marked out of 100 per game), do you go for the one in ten 100 score, the solid 60 score or the dross like we sign 5 out of 10 times who score consistent 20-30???

Sampdoria interested in him as well. Agents stirring the pot again. I don't expect to see him here.

Club rejects Swansea offer of 25 million by Jonathan Viera

The UD has rejected a Swansea offer of 25 million by Jonathan Viera. The Welsh club wants to take the attacker from La Feria to the Premier and join him to Roque Mesa, a player who signed a few weeks ago agreeing a payment of 12.5 million euros more variables.Ignacio S. Acedo / Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Viera, whose termination clause is 30 million and has a contract in force until 2021, already knows the interest of the British group, which would triple his salary with a long relationship ahead. Miguel Ángel Ramírez considers the player "basic and fundamental" for the project and plans for the expansion of the entity, but he knows that if Swansea increases its proposal a little more and reaches the stipulated to acquire the federation rights of the attacker can do nothing.

In the UD there is the conviction that there will be a new offensive and that, in the face of the refusal before this first attempt, the Swansea will reach reaching the record number of 30 million. Unlike what happened with Roque, in which it accepted to reduce figures and even the payment in installments, with Viera the address is unique and unequivocal: or clause cash or nothing.

That does not mean that the noble zone of Gran Canaria admits that the opportunity that opens to Viera with what they offer is "irreproachable" and, if appropriate, can understand the wishes of the attacker to emigrate. The relationship with the player and his agent, Ivan Cristovinho, is total and there will be no problem in arranging the departure of the canterano as long as the necessary conditions are met.

However, the financial muscle of the UD is shown not raffling one of its flaggers and putting strict measures so that its patrimonial value is respected. So it happened, without going further, last year when Barça or Seville tried to get Lemos or Roque at a low price. Even weeks ago, when he began to forge the transfer of Roque, Ramirez established red lines to safeguard institutional interests and to seek the greatest possible benefit to the coffers of the club.

Paul Clement, coach of the Welsh team, is delighted with the arrival of Roque, with which he has had a few training sessions to certify that they have successfully invested in him. And aware of the good pairing that formed with Viera, in addition to the possibility of losing Sigurdsson, his half-time starter and who could go to Chelsea, has very clear his preferences for his attack. By Jonathan, as it advanced CANARIAS7 in its edition of the 28 of June, already asked the Swansea, then with a lower amount and in an operation that was parked.

In the last hours has reactivated, and in what way, Swansea's desire for the player who is franchise and heart of the UD and who, in December 2014, returning after his stages in Valencia, Rayo Vallecano and Standard de Liège, has already relinquished considerable sums of money, favoring his desire to play in the yellow jersey in the First Division. But his growth and progression, which have placed him at the gates of the Spanish team, have put Viera in a showcase they want to break from the Premier League. Because, to prosper these intentions, would break the record in sales that recently fixed Roque with 12,5 million euros.

We need to up our offer to 30 million. They believe we got Mesa cheaply but we have to pay full whack for Viera <ok>

Well if we offer the £30m it ends the fears of the Yanks filling their pockets. That would still leave £18m from the Gylfi and Cork sales if you combine that fee with Mesa for a top class winger or striker before using any of the TV monies etc.

Valley - the release clause is €30m and the article says that if we offer that amount then there is nothing they can do & they would have to release him - "pero sabe que si el Swansea incrementa su propuesta un poco más y alcanza lo estipulado para adquirir los derechos federativos del atacante nada podrá hacer."

    stop showing off brain box.

I am not sure I am comfortable with this, that would be a great signing I think, not sure I want to spend 30m on a midfield player. when we also need to strengthen else where in the side. Would still like a LB, CB and another striker.

My A Level Spanish from 41 years ago comes in handy now and again

I'd prefer a RB to a LB, but agree with your other points.

Watching the game last night we need a central midfielder (a good one) another striker and I would think a RB. We have 3 CB+VDH so not a priority
