Troy Deeney I know who eat all the pies..... Good lord NO NO NO have you seen the size of him lately. Can’t move quick enough to catch a cold. Let's get in some younger players, Deeney way way to expensive! ………..IMO
Why would you think Everton are in pole position? ... it won't be for financial reasons .. we are currently ranked above them in the list of the world's richest football clubs ...just saying ... I think there is still a tendency amongst Leicester City fans to see ourselves as 'poor relations' ... whilst we are owned by King Power we are certainly not ...
They are in Europe and we aren't. Also having rich owners doesn not make us a rich club - FFP has made sure of that.
You think being in Europe for a season matters more than the Financial package? ... so Lacazette has signed for Arsenal because of his desire to play in the Europey? ... why wouldn't he have gone to a Champions League club if playing in Europe was his prime concern ... Mane went to Liverpool when they were not playing in season but Sothampton who he left were .. similarly Kante to Chelsea - in reality it's a combination of things but the financial package is most likely (in my cynical opinion) tops ... As to rich owners not equating to rich clubs .... so Man City were a rich club before Sheikh Mansoor? ... and Chelsea were before Abramovic? . PSG is another prime example .. ... as I said ... there is a pessimistic mentality about many of us Leicester City fans ... "It's bound to all come crumbling down" ... but is it? ... I'm now a convert ... the owners have loved every minute of 'our journey' and have made us a 'rich club' in world terms (as published by Forbes - we are currently 19th - and ahead of Everton) ...the stadium expansion plans are part of ambitious plans to establish Leicester City as a 'global brand' ... we'd best get used to that ... isn't it great?
Yup - we are not in Europe so aren't linked with those kinds of players. Everton and Liverpool were regularly in the top half of the table and pushing for Europe - right now we are a mid table team that flirted with relegation last season and have only finished in the top half of the Premier League table once in the past decade. Also Man City and Chelsea were before FFP - our owners could do the same and pour billions into the club but then we would be hit with every point deduction and fine that they can give us as unlike those clubs, we don't have executives on the FA board and as we broke their monopoly they will hold us to account. You may call me pessimistic but I call it realistic - we had to give a player £80k a week to join us from a relegated club. The future is bright but you should take off your blue tinged sunglasses for the present.
I'd also add that the name Ronald Koeman will be an attraction. I'm not saying he is a better manager than Shakey, just that he is a better known name in the world of international football and had a more illustrious playing career. In the eyes of many players that will be seen as equating to him trying to create a team that emulates the ones he played for.
Basically you can't run a club at a loss - what you take out in transfer fees and wages cannot greatly exceed the clubs's income. It takes into account how rich a club is, not the owner and stops what Chelsea and Man City have done with their owners pumping money into the club and running at a loss. The likes of Spurs and Everton have a bigger fanbase and have been much more consistent in the league so they are richer then us even though Top is worth more then their owners combined.
Exactly - this is the reason why I really don't want us to be affected by it as we broke the status quo and these twats would relish in buggering us up.
Done deal for Ibo. Superb bit of business this is. To get a player of his quality/experience/pedigree for 12m. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...irm-signing-of-sevilla-captain-vicente-iborra
Koeman is better known than Shakey no doubt ... but most of the players playing today won't have been born the last time Everton won a trophy ... wheras we are still hot news ... as I said, it's a combination of things. Illustrious playing careers don't necessarily mean illustrious managerial ones ... Mourinho didn't have one, Guardiola did ... for every argumet you could cite a counter argument ... Gianfrancon Zola
Looks like we are missing out on Gregoire Defrel - has apparently agreed terms with Roma. Also we have told Bordeaux that they can only have Mendy on a permanent transfer and want our £13M back at least.
Closing in on Iheanacho apparently according to ESPN FINGERS CROSSED!!!! http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/31539...-sign-kelechi-iheanacho-from-man-city-for-25m
Most people don't know how FFP works and I wasn't sure until a City fan explained it to me. Basically when a player is signed for say £50m on a five year contract only £10m per season is shown as expenditure but the players value is added as an asset so it balances the books and looks like more has come in than has gone out. City are lucky because they don't have a huge global fan base so they don't receive anywhere near the kind of money that Chelsea, United, Liverpool or Arsenal receive from gate receipts and merchandising etc. What they have is a £300m a year kit sponsor from their owners. Signing a player on £200k/week is only a bit over £10m/season too so essentially their £50m player on £200k/week is only costing them about £20m/season. This is how City manage to spend hundreds of millions and adhere to FFP. Leicester don't need to worry about FFP because we're hundreds of millions in the black, having been debt free since promotion and all the money since, which I believe to be £387m or thereabouts since promotion and we've spent £124m including Iborra. We have more money coming in than we have going out and you're even allowed to be in negative but we're not so we don't have to worry about FFP. We can't go spending hundreds of millions like City do because we don't have their £300m a year kit sponsorship but we certainly don't have to worry about FFP.
Been reading all your posts and I 100% agree with everything you've said. We are a richer club than Everton now and most people don't even know who Everton are anymore because they've done nothing but be a mediocre PL team since its inception and haven't won a trophy for two decades and have won less than us. People are stuck in the past where they were a bigger club but they're not anymore, just like Villa, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday who used to be successful. We're above them in the rich list so in 2017 Leicester City Football Club are bigger than Everton Football Club. A lot of people still live in the past and not the present and presently we're a far better known club than Everton. Even people in Australia now know who Leicester are and every time I wear my shirt someone says something. My boys were wearing their shirts the other day and my eldest said "that man just put his thumb up at me and said go Leicester". This is the reality that people aren't aware of and these days Everton are not a bigger club and are not a more attractive club to join.
We have become a club known worldwide now. I'm presently on cruise with people from all over the world, every time I'm asked where I'm from everyone mentions lcfc.
The problem with your way of thinking is that we are just going to attract players who's only motivation is money - we have seen how that works with the examples of Sunderland, QPR and Leeds. The type of players that we want are ambitious and willing to work hard to achieve their goals and like it or not, a club steeped in history like Everton who are in Europe and manged by a legend in Koeman are much more attractive to that kind of player then rich Leicester who had a miracle season then fell to earth and spent most of last season in fear of relegation.
Now that's where you're absolutely 100% wrong because I don't want that at all. I want us to carry on signing players who have the right ethos and fit the type of player we want but better quality and then pay them the market rate, massive difference. I kept asking about which players Shakey won't be able to attract because he's not a big enough name and I said it won't be an issue because he's well respected, the club is heading in an extremely positive direction and players will get paid well. Panning out alright so far. They won't just be coming here for the money, they'll be coming because they have the right attitude, the right quality and because they're getting paid the right amount.
