So we can mark this day when Les said none of our key players are leaving this Summer and only those who in our mutual interest and that do not add value can leave. Similarly, we only spend when there is a trade up. Is that about the summation?
He usually says that we don't need to sell (as did Kreuger recently)....now he is saying that we won't be selling. That's pretty firm....especially when you consider the fact we challenged Liverpool for tapping up VVD.
Agreed he's a capable player. I'd put the three you mentioned ahead of him so if he's happy to be a squad player and down the pecking order then I'd be happy for him to stay.Clasie is a good player, but we already have Davis who I think is better and more versatile than him, and JWP who's more effective and also 'our man'. And I just don't think we really need three very similar players. And then there's Hojbjerg too.

Agreed. Les was speaking in English - it's hard to understand why people immediately misquote him.I think you're putting words in his mouth there slightly. He has said we won't be selling Van Dijk or Cedric, so presumably Bertrand and Jay Rod etc are free to leave if we get the fee we are after.
We get this **** nearly every season and we have brought in more then a few players. The fact he thinks we have a strong squad and don't really need many first team improvements is worrying. We were **** compared to the season before last, and the club should be making moves to improve our first team.

Also nothing about Bertrand not leaving.....
I thought he said none of our top players would be leaving? Also nothing about Bertrand not leaving.....
We don't really have that many big players in the squad to name them...I don't see it as the no mention of Bertrand meaning that he is likely to be sold. I just think he was quoting the examples of VVD and Cedric as they are the current flavours of the month with the media as far as touting our players off to every Tom, Dick and Harry goes.
I mean, he was hardly going to go through the whole squad and say "yep, he can be sold" or "no, we'll definitely be keeping him"![]()
We will soon see, when Bertrand flips out on InstaI thought he said none of our top players would be leaving?
It's hard to get exact quotes as you know what sky are like but from the article it seems to say as if he actually said that.

As I say, sky could have just misquoted or exaggerated what he said.We will soon see, when Bertrand flips out on Insta![]()
As would be true of any player of sense.Apparently the preferred destination of Defrel is Saints.
I know we get the same stuff said every year but if the takeover doesn't go through fairly quickly I can see this being a relatively quiet window in terms of signings. Not sure Kat is going to authorise too much spending at this point. We'll see though.
It might be. I suspect there wouldn't be too much delay announcing it though. It could already be signed and sealed, ready to be announced when they feel the time is right.

As for Bertrand trying to force and move by stripping on social media, I can defintely see him doing that.
