askew , Its only just June , calm down , what will be will be , and if it isn't, Abramovich will fill the gaps with players £12m for Tammy Abraham says a lot to me about where we are going and no panic needed ... EDIT : is keeping the core of a squad that has failed twice now in the Prem such a big thing to keep hold of ? ... maybe time for new direction and new thinking ... and I look forward to it
They've also succeeded in the Championship, the league we're in. Surely the time to remove them would be when we go up?
I dont think its reported anywhere we're trying to buy the kid, a loan is maybe possible. Cant see why Chelsea would sell him.
Succeeded.. in finishing 4th, scraping past Derby and then smashing that MASSIVE club at Wembley.. 1-0. Hmm, yeah.
Well yes, but it's not like we were the Newcastle/Brighton of this year, is it? Not even sure we were at Huddersfield's level..
We didn't have to be. I'm not really sure how we can criticise a team for achieving their ultimate goal.
I didn't say that though, just pointing out that while we may have gotten promoted from the Championship with most of the current squad, we were far from brilliant in the process. So yes we "succeeded" but it doesn't mean we can't do better at Championship level in most positions.
Not sure why you sense I'm not calm!! I think you are a little niaive though if you seriously believe this is how you start a promotion campaign..
No i think we start a promotion campaign by letting the manager who has said he will have 90% of the team he needs in place by the 3rd of july to get on with it. If he had any problems with certain players going i am sure he would have said but i think he already knows the players and staff he needs. Just give him the time to get on with it and we will be fine.
I think the squad as a whole benefited from Silva and that he introduced personal training that many will continue with. Slutsky will hopefully not feel the need to change too much about the way they as players approach each game.
This is what I've said in the past. We were really quite crap for periods in that season, players phoning it in at times. Glad Brighton messed it up in their semi, that would have been a tougher final. There were enough weak teams that we easily made the playoffs and didn't have that much competition through the playoffs (still making it close against Derby). I think most would expect this coming season to be harder, but we'll see. One thing we're hoping for is that Bruce keeps up his very defensive mindset so Villa aren't that good however many millions they spend.
I think has to work with what he's got, or sell to add to what he has. Wasn't he told he had a budget of £1 million...?
Why isn't it? The last two times we've been promoted we've lost players and brought some in, what's the problem?
I do think we outplayed Sheffield Wednesday in the final and played it very well that day. But I can't close my eyes to other things in that season. I really hope we have a better loan that Cakpom this time (a serial failure everywhere), and if we do have a loan with potential we give him some use (unlike Hayden that year). And that we don't play players who are injured and out of form like Meyler was at times. And, please, let's improve on Elmo. We really should have been competing with Burnley instead of looking at them in the distance in the final part of the season.
