I don't disagree; we're not in a position where grinding out 0-0s/hopeful 1-0s at home will win us any great plaudits no matter who is in charge. I'm just trying to figure out why our board might swap Puel for Pellegrino.
Did well with Japan but hardly impressing stats at any of his other recent roles. I guess Maya would know lots about him?
They have been, but the potential there for a good manager is huge. Some of the common denominators in their annual struggles are still there - O`Shea, Cattermole etc. Need to weed them out.
Take Pelle and Mane out of that side and we'd be lucky to hit 40 goals in a season. 12 months later.....Ta daaaa!
Lolz, the black box is supposed to be famous for unearthing "unknown" players and managers not someone who has, poorly, managed 2 of the most high profile teams in the world. The black box is a joke btw, every ****ing team in the Prem has their version which spits out the same players as ours, its just who decides to pull the trigger on the signing, we are no better than anyone else.
Can you explain how he managed Real Madrid poorly? He was treated very unfairly there. Did great work at Malaga & Villareal too. He wasn't that bad for City either, until the last season but it was clear long before then that City wanted Guardiola.
With the players he had at his disposal he should've played more expansive attacking football, he is first and foremost a defensive manager which is why he got canned at Real and City imo
So, erm, who are Saints going to blame for our poor summer this year? Cliff Richard? Dennis the Menace? The Wombles? Or are we actually going to sign an actual upgrade on Puel and spend some actual money actually?
We always spend money, more so than we have received in fee's. Don't get why people are already so impatient, it's the middle of June...
As you said IMO,well imo he is very much an upgrade on Puel, spend money invest in the team,do that and no will complain...........oh well maybe not lol
We may spend more than we bring on through sales, but only just. However, this is the new manager thread and that is what is frustrating me. Where is the plan? Edit: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/alletransfers/verein/180 I take it back - we rarely spend what we bring in.
Wtf.i go away on holiday and i come back to read that puel got sacked, virgil has been as ass and liverpool gave a public apoligy . Did i miss anying else?
The plan is that the club have set themselves a 10 day deadline to appoint a new manager before the players return for pre-season testing on the 29th June.
I wonder if the Black Box has Kevin Keegan's number. It would all end in tears at some point but at least he'd stick around and the football would be dynamite
It's not what you've got but how you use it and in that respect we have clearly shown ourselves to be better than (and the envy) of many others.
I think the thing that most people are pissed about is that at the moment the club is not even giving off the vibe that whatever is happening is happening fast and smooth. Just the Puel thing itself doesn't sit right with me. Why take so long to sack him? The rumours were floating nonstop and people on here and everywhere were questioning it so why allow the speculation? The club must have known by that point they were going to sack him, it doesn't seem like they are controlling the situation. Also it's yet another season of Reed/Krueger saying "no exodus" a few weeks before the end and now everyone is being liked by all the usual names, exactly the same as the past two years, we have no reason to trust them with transfers at this point in regard to outgoings. The lack of ambition too why the **** (With the big question mark of van Dijk leaving) do our players seem to just be accepted any transfer. Tottenham can keep their best, Everton kept Lukaku for a while, Leicester kept Vardy, Mahrez yet we always just say "Ok take him". Obviously this rant is ironic seeing as no one has actually left us in this transfer window but I'm sure a number will again. Call me pessimistic but nothing the club has done the last 3 years makes me believe we will keep those who get offers.
Nothing will happen until the very lovely Mrs Godders and I get back from our holiday in Torquay on the 10th July.
