They could show some vision, and go straight for MP4... I'll get my coat. Do you want yours too Fran?
https://www.thesportsman.com/articles/southampton-must-be-careful-not-to-do-a-charlton Thought provoking piece...suggesting that we should be careful of doing a Charlton....sacking a steady manager by chasing success. A valid point....had exciting football under MP and now not being able to accept stability. We have been delightfully spoilt by some wonderful seasons....something older fans would have rarely seen before the Leihberr era. Let's hope the future's bright, but we have taken a risk swapping from a known to an unknown manager. Here's hoping.
Although I was in favour of giving Puel more time, the replies to that piece are quite true. Saints didn't sack him after a number of successful seasons, rather it was to not risk another like the last one. It's true that regular changes at the top are a risk, but I would compare Charlton's relegation season to our own drop from the Prem in 2005. If I remember correctly, we both had reasonably successful managers leave (Strachan and Curbishley) but chose to replace them with back room staff (Wigley and Read, yes our very own Les Read). By the time it was realised that was a mistake it was too late for both of us.
