He was still very good there. I wouldn't want him at saints for several reasons but in no world is 4 league titles not good.
Fair comment. I think we've all had enough of boring slow football, I couldn't cope with another season of it! I still think itl be some out the blue appointment a bit like puel.
As I said, Ajax fans hated the football being played more then winning the league. You can still win a league and be a poor manager
Pellegrino is a 10-men-behind-the-ball sort. Alaves got some great results, but played miserably boring football in the main. Please, no.
So de boer plays sideways football and Pellegrino plays with 10 men behind the ball. Let's hope this isn't the actual shortlist or we should have kept Puel
I really hope this shortlist is more bull and our board is finding the next Poch. Puel was a good guy but wrong for our team, I really don't like any of those names De Boer seems like the best of a weak bunch, I see nothing that stands out about Pellegrino. Easily Tuchel would have been number 1 but there aren't many number 1 picks out there among the established bunch. There some really good managers available after Koeman, we made a mis step.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...-interview-frank-de-boer-mauricio-pellegrino/ Saints to interview De Boer and Pellegrino according to Wilson. Plus one other name on shortlist.
I would go for AVB personally. For what I remember, his Chelsea and Spurs team, played exciting football, and no doubt, he will feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League.
Pellegrino can't be someone that has been a long term target - relatively underwhelming managerial career, and had an OK season in Spain last year - ironically reaching a cup final. Interesting that Wilson says that De Boer was close to being appointed last summer. Schmidt would've been a good pick.
Pellegrino had better than an OK season, given that it was Alaves, but there might have been some good fortune in the mix. They were the definition of "pack the box, hope to get a jammy goal on your one real chance" with one of the worst shots for/against rates in La Liga, and their cup run was pretty fortunate...they made the finals without playing any of the better teams in Spain (they nicked a 1-0 two-legged tie against Celta Vigo in the semis, and 13th-placed Celta was the best opponent along the way). And yeah, I'd bite your hand off for the chance to go back and get Schmidt before he departed for China.
